Dear Riptides,

Remember that students get out early this week so that our teachers can administer reading assessments.  Students in grades 1-5 are dismissed Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 12:40 and Kindergarten and TK at 11:30. Wednesday is regular schedule with all students getting out at 1:20.
We are off on Monday for Memorial Day.  This is a good time to talk with your kids about what Memorial Day means, depending on their age and temperament.  If you want to celebrate Memorial Day, there are plenty of ways to do so.  
Here are a couple of ideas:

Robinson Events & News

5/29: Volunteer Luncheon to Celebrate all Robinson Parent Volunteers (that's you!), 11AM-1PM
All parent volunteers are invited to join the PTSA for a casual and fun luncheon at a local, walk-street residence!  If you've volunteered in the classroom, done prep-work at home, attended field trips, assisted in school-wide events, participated on a committee... this celebration is for you!  We hope you will join us.  Please RSVP.

5/31: School-wide Assembly: "A Tribute to Robinson" @ Amphitheater, 8:30AM
Please join us for the last assembly of the year, “A Tribute to Robinson”.  At this assembly we welcome back the Robinson Alumni graduating from High School.  We will also look back at the school year and at all the wonderful accomplishments and events.  Robinson is a special place because of the many ways our community comes together  - please plan on joining us.  There will be coffee provided at 8-8:30 courtesy of the Robinson PTSA. 
6/13: Summer Festival: End of Year Party @ Fowler Field, 12:40 - 2:40PM
Mark your calendar for our annual Summer Festival!  On the last day of school, we'll kick-off the festivities directly after the bell from 12:40-2:40.  We will have drinks, Ameci Pizza, Brothers Burritos & Kona Shaved Ice for the whole family.  Your kids will have a blast celebrating their last day of school with bounce houses, obstacle courses, a DJ, tattoo artists, and some very cool beach toys! As a reminder, all children must be supervised by an adult.

2019-2020 Open PTSA Committee Chairs
Thank you to all the parents who have volunteered to lead a PTSA Committee this year! We are looking for several new chairs for the 2019-2020 school year.  The positions are Apparel Sales, Battle of the Books, Disney Concert Hall Ticket Program, Frozen Treat Sales, Hospitality, Lost and Found, Spelling Bee & Spirit. 6/13 Deadline: Fall 2019 Back-to-School Supply Kits Available for Purchase
For your convenience, Robinson has once again partnered with 1st Day School Supplies for the Fall 2019 Back-to-School Supply Kits! The Robinson teachers have personally created a grade-specific kit for your child, and each kit is delivered directly to the classroom prior to the start of school.  Ordering through 1st Day School Supplies, allows you to avoid the hassle of shopping, save money (as these supplies are purchased in bulk), and ensure consistency in school supplies. Click here to order. Contact with any questions
6/13 Deadline: Expense Reimbursement Requests Due by 6/13
  1. Please submit all expense reimbursement requests within 30 days. 
  2. Expenses will be reimbursed within 2 weeks. Exceptions will be made for payments that require a quicker turn-a-round.
  3. ALL expense reimbursement requests must be submitted with a CHECK REQUEST FORM. These forms can be found in the office or on the Robinson Elementary School website under FORMS. Click here for the form.

3rd Grade Music Program

5/29: 3rd Grade String Instrument Petting Zoo @ Pennekamp Elementary Cafeteria, 6-7 PM** 
The String Instrument Petting Zoo is an interactive event for parents and students. It is an opportunity for students to hold and try the violin, viola, cello, and bass with the assistance of a Mira Costa High School orchestra musician. It is meant to provide 3rd grade students with a tactile experience to assist in the string instrument selection process.

MBUSD supports Mental Health Awareness month in many ways, including connecting families with helpful resources and youth wellness information on our MCHS Families Connected webpage. Costa Boys Basketball Annual Summer Camp

**Just Added** For current 1st graders to be at the top of their game when they enter 2nd grade in the fall, there is Gettin' Set for Second taught by Pennekamp teacher Donna Barney. For current 5th graders to discuss the reading they will be expected to respond to as 6th graders in the fall, there is MBMS Summer Reading Book Club led by Michelle Syverson, MBUSD Literacy Teacher on Special Assignment.

Robinson's Got Talent! Thank you to our dedicated Talent Show Co-Chairs Lisa Jadon & Deirdre Gurney.  The show featured over 40 acts and included all the bells and whistles!  Thank you for all your hard work to make it a night to remember.  This show wouldn't be possible without the many parents who helped out behind the scenes.  A big riptide cheer goes out to Nancy Soni, Melissa Kim, Karissa Marsh & Mandy Gregory.  And special thanks to those who helped out on the night of the event: Amy Digiaro, Alex Dionisio, Loren Kosmont, Kristen Borland, Tami Ben Shaul, Leah Duke, Jenny Marashi, Jasmine Tate, Lindsay Ashcraft, Schuyler Chang, Riscilla Christensen, Chelsea Zeilin & Camille Checketts.
