Dear Riptides,

We are about to embark on CAASPP testing in grades three through five (or you may have heard it called SBAC testing). If you’re new to CAASP, it stands for California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress. CAASPP is designed to give information to teachers, students, and their families about what students know and are able to do. Testing is done in in the Spring beginning in 3rd grade.  Click here to view a parent page that will explain the testing and give you additional resources.  Our 3rd grade students will begin testing this week.  4th grade will begin the following week and then 5th grade will test after they come home from Catalina.  It’s important for students to have a good breakfast that includes protein and get a full night’s sleep every day, but especially during testing week!!  Also, since the tests are untimed, it’s difficult to find time to make up the tests if a student is absent.  Please try to avoid scheduling doctors’ appointments or family trips during your child’s testing week.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me or your child’s teacher if you have additional questions.
Here’s to another great week at Robinson School!
