  RANGE RULES
  • Eye & Ear Protection are Mandatory
  • Membership Card Must be clearly displayed
  • Paper Targets only
  • No shooting when RED Lights are illuminated
  • No Gun handling when RED Lights are illuminated
  • Must use an open bolt indicator on rifles to leave them on the bench; otherwise they must be in the rack with the bolt open
  • NO RAPID FIRE (1 shot per second)
  • Always keep weapons pointed in a safe direction
  • Do not place your finger on the trigger until you are ready to shoot
  • Always keep weapon unloaded until ready to shoot
 
There are range rules posted at both the rifle and pistol ranges similar to what is printed above. Please read these rules at the ranges and abide by them, they are in place for your safety and everyone at the range.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

 
 Black powder: Matches are held on the first Sunday of the month starting at 9:00 am.
At our July 5th Match Gene Moss was high in the rifle match, Dennis Gray was 2nd and Byron Pearson 3rd. In the pistol match Gene Moss was high, Good Gary 2nd, and Frank Luenser 3rd.
 
Varmint Rifle: Dennis Gray- Matches are held the first Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m. with signups at 8:00 a.m. Cost is $5.00 and we use .22 long rifles. You shoot against like rifles. We have loaner sandbags and spotting scopes.
At the March match in Peep Heavy Allan Baillie was high with a 288. In Sportier Scope Al Cvitanovich was high with 173, Dan Prictchard was second with a 166. In Scope Heavy Rene Anderson was high with a 186, Bob Sweet was second with 181, and Thurman Mullen was third with 180. In sportier Iron James Wiley was high with a 239, Dennis Gray was second with 208, and Dave Boal was third with 205.
At the May match in Peep Heavy Allan Baillie was high with a 195, Tom Vogel was second with a 194, and Tim Filbin third with a 177. In Sportier Scope Dan Pritchard was high with 192, Jack French was second with a 173. In Scope Heavy Bob Sweet was high with a 194, Nick Mosich and Frank Luenser were second with 193, and Thurman Mullen was third with 192. In sportier Iron Dave Boal was high with a 165, ??????was second with 164, and James Wiley was third with 159.
At the June match in Peep Heavy Allan Baillie was high with a 276, Frank Luenser was second with a 263 and Tom Vogel third with a 258. In Scope Heavy Rene Anderson was high with a 325, Bob Sweet was second with 324, and Thurman Mullen and Nick Mosich were third with 317. In sportier Iron Dave Boal was high with a 245, James Wiley was second with 244, and Dennis Gray was third with 222. In Sportier Scope no winners were listed.
 
At the July match in Peep Heavy Allan Baillie was high with a 296-8X, second was Tom Vogel with 295-18X, and Frank Luenser third with 289. In Sportier Scope Dan Pritchard was high with 288. In Scope Heavy Rene Anderson was high with a 338-6X, Steve Havel was second with 331-4X, and Jerry Dillard was third with 325. In sportier Iron Dave Boal was high with a 271, James Wiley was second with 261, and Larry “Redman” Land was third with 238.
 
Junior Rifle: Jay DeCou- Junior Rifle is a year-long program that’s starts in July and meets on third Saturday a month. We have just begun our next annual session.  
 
Trap: Fred Weinstein- Trap is open on Sundays from 9:00am to 1:00pm and Wednesdays from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. At the beginning of June some or our shooters attended the central zone competition held at Tulare Gun Club. Brandon Simonds and Kevin Rayner shot good and were on the men’s central zone team. Barbie Thorp was on the women’s central zone team and Ben Clark and Wyatt Hambly were on the junior’s central zone team. The women’s team and the juniors team both won over the two other zones during the state finals.
Many of our shooters also competed at the state finals held in Kingsburg. Winners were Russ Pierce, Keith Baker, Wyatt Hambly, Ben Clark, Murray Hunter IV, Brandon Simonds, and Barbie Thorp.  
 
Skeet: Jerry Dillard-   We are open for practice on Wednesday evening 5:00pm till 9:00pm and Sunday morning 9:00am to 1:00pm.  We have just completed installing a fence between trap and skeet to help keep target debris from landing on the trap field. Looking forward to seeing you.
 
Tactical Pistol: Chris Baker- Our matches are held on the fourth Saturday of the month, with a walk through and new shooter orientation at 8:30 am and the match starts at 9:00 am. The matches are based on USPSA style pistol shooting.
 
Archery: Mike Hardy- On the second Saturday of the month we have a beginner archery class. The class runs from 9:00am to 10:30am, we have had to hold some of the classes on other Saturdays due to schedule conflicts so check the club calendar. Anyone interested can come out and we will teach them how to shoot a bow. We have youth bows and are in the process of purchasing more youth bows due to the overwhelming interest in archery. Our next scheduled match will be on Sunday September 27th starting at 9:00 am. This will be a state registered shoot. We will have a flyer posted on the website.
 
Components: Joe Franzone- We sell new shot shell for 12 and 20 gauge shotguns and components for reloading shot shells. Components are sold on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings when someone is available to open the vault.    
 
Junior Shotgun: Keith Baker- Our youth shotgun class meets on Thursday evenings from 6:00pm to 7:00pm. We cover Safe Gun Handling, gun fit, trap etiquette, and trap leads on targets. Cost is $35 per child or $70 maximum per family per session. This program is partially sponsored by the NRA through grants. The SCTP state finals were held in Kingsburg on June 20th and 21st, there we approximately 800 juniors in attendance from all over the state. We had 6 of our junior shooters attend. They shot 200 sixteen yard targets on Saturday and some of them returned on Sunday to shoot 100 handicap and 50 pairs of doubles targets. On Saturday Wyatt Hambly was high in his class and Murray Hunter IV was second in his class. On Sunday Ben Clark broke 99 out of 100 handicap targets and was high gun. This was a great experience for all of the juniors that attended. Our next session will start on September 3rd contact Keith Baker at 441-8077 for further information. 
 
Money Shoot: Dale Vogt- On the 4th Wednesday of the month starting at 6:00pm we have a trap money shoot. You shoot 25 targets from the 16 yard line and 25 targets from a handicap yardage, if you break all 50 targets you get half of the money in the kitty. At this time there is $1,841.25 in the pot.  At the June shoot most of our contestants were at the state trap finals in Kingsburg, there were only three people show up and no one hit the money.
