April 2014

(Pistol shown is for illustration purposes only)

At the end of the year we are going to have a drawing for a free Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical Pistol in 45 ACP. It comes with ambi safety, skeletonized hammer and trigger with beavertail safety. This is a great shooter and a good addition to anyone’s 1911 collection. To enter the drawing all you have to do is donate some time working at the rifle and pistol ranges as a range host. Our Executive officer is working out the details and he will have a schedule set up and a sign in sheet. We will have that information on the website. The more time you donate the more chances you will have to win!

One of our life members has passed away, Max Van Deventer. Max was very active in the club until moving to Nevada.

On March 8th & 9th we held our first ATA Winter Chain trap shoot. We had shooters come from all over California; we also had shooters from Washington and Ohio. On Saturday night we served bar-b-que chicken to the shooters and guests. The Native Sons of the Golden West cooked and served the dinner; they also were there on both days and served some delicious hamburgers for lunch.
We would also like to thank all of the volunteers that helped run the shoot; Keith Baker, Butch Phillips, Linda Lee, Gary Hazard, Ken Weaver, Bret & Melinda Uhlich.
A special thanks goes out to  Don Curten, and Don Curten Jr, they took time off of their schedule and came up and helped service our trap machines.
