Dear KDHS members and friends

With great sadness, the KDHS committee learned this morning of the death of Fr. Michael Sheedy, for many years Parish Priest of Kilrush, to which parish he was first appointed as curate back in 1989.

As a mark of respect, we have decided to postpone both of our planned events this weekend.  Please spread the word to anyone who may have planned to attend and may not have received this email.

The launch of our book and the launch of the Kilrush First World War Memorial will take place at a later date.

Fr. Sheedy was instrumental in allowing the Kilrush First World War Memorial to be erected on parish property.

Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Our deepest sympathies to Fr. Sheedy's brothers, sisters, extended family, fellow priests, parishioners and friends.

The book was written by Kay Clancy, John Glynn, Paul O'Brien, Lisa O'Sullivan and Paddy Waldron. The introduction was written by Laura Hogan.  It took months of detailed research, writing, and graphic design. There are many other people to thank, which we will do at the launch.

The funds raised from the sale of the book will go towards further research and dissemination of the history of Kilrush and its environs.

To this end, we have a number of exciting projects and events planned.

Best wishes

Paddy Waldron
