Resources to help homeschoolers stay connected.

GIVING THANKS

Welcome to the November issue of The Connected Homeschool Newsletter!
Fall is an especially beautiful time of year full of wonder and excitement! It's a time to give thanks for all our blessings. It's also a time when educational opportunities are all around us.

While we will try to stay ahead of the many events and activities for homeschoolers, there are always some that we find out about just days before which will not make it into the newsletter in time, so please
keep checking the Home page and the Calendar page of the website for updated
information.

If you know of an event or activity that we have not covered, please let us know by emailing us, so we can share it with the entire homeschooling community.

If this newsletter has been forwarded to you, you can click here to sign up to get it delivered directly to your email address.

Thanks and stay happily connected!

NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BEE PREP CLASS
Thursdays, starting October 17th, 12:30 - 1:45 p.m.
Northwest Missouri and St. Joseph homeshoolers will  have the opportunity to participate in the  the 2014 National Geographic Bee to be held in December 2013 at the St. Joseph Public Library Downtown.  A preparatory class will be held on Thursday Afternoon beginning October 17th  from 12:30 to about 1:45.  Participation is encouraged, but not required. This will change when the homeschool basketball team schedule changes. We will not meet October 24th. Homeschool students in 4th through 8th grades are eligible to participate.  We MUST have six participants to hold the bee.  You must also be exclusively homeschooled. You may visit the National Geographic Bee’s website for frequently asked questions, sample questions, and quizzes at http://www.nationalgeographic.com/geobee/
Please contact Alison if you are interested in your children being in the bee.

The Connected Homeschool website has added a new page under Resources dedicated to listing Homeschool Friendly Businesses (businesses that offer discounts to homeschoolers or special homeschool days, businesses run by homeschoolers, etc.). If you know of any homeschool friendly businesses not yet listed, please email Julie at theconnectedhomeschool@gmail.com.

We are looking for some savvy homeschooling moms to write a paragraph or two of inspiration and/or information to share in upcoming newsletters. This can be linked to your blog if you have one. If anybody is interested, please email Julie at theconnectedhomeschool@gmail.com.

Thanks for supporting homeschooling in our community!

May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving!
