November 2020

From the President's Boat

The Members Meeting on Tuesday November 17th is CANCELLED due to COVID-19.
We will review the Governor’s Executive Order and will update you in advance regarding our plans for the December 15th Annual Officer Elections, League Night Awards & Drawings, Holiday Members Meeting.

The Board is reviewing various options in regards to all future meetings and events due to COVID-19 and will publish information as it becomes available and the appropriate decisions are made.

Our major ongoing fall project to completely replace our Website and to change the look, feel, information available, capabilities, robustness for a better member experience and easier maintenance is its final stages. Our Chapter Logo will be modified to meet legal requirements. Both are being done to satisfy the IRS, in order to reinstate and maintain our 501(3)c tax exempt status. More to come in the next Newsletter.

Stocking Update: They cancelled spring Minnesota DNR Egg Collection Operations due to the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in no Muskies or any other species raised in 2020. The North Metro and Twin Cities Chapters emergency June fund raising allowed us to purchase 1,500 fingerlings Muskies @ $15 each for a total cost of $22,500 from the Minnesota Muskie Farms private hatchery before other States DNR’s and Chapters could acquire and take these fish out of Minnesota. 1,369 fish survived of the original 1,500 fingerlings delivered that the Minnesota DNR Waterville Hatchery raised in its ponds to 16+” size. The DNR stocked the 1,369 fish purchased in the following lakes and numbers. The DNR also stocked 589 other fish from their other ponds for total 2020 Minnesota stocking of 1,958 Fish.
