Ashland Main Street President Bill Gatewood was honored at retirement ceremony at Town Hall Nov 1, 2016.  Chief Goodman recognized him for over 30 years of service with the Ashland Police Department.  Congratulate him when you see him on Train Day!  


Many thanks to Caroline and Alvaro Coronado for continuing to support the Ashland Theater.   If you place an order for the brass adaptation of the Ashland Theater Governor's Holiday Tree ornament and they will donate $25 to the Ashland Theater Foundation. They will create each ornament on individual order basis.

COOLEST Train mural ever!  Thanks to Ashland Street Parties "Art for Art" project artist Ed Trask has created a masterpiece for all to enjoy!  Read about his legacy piece dedicated to Ashland's Art McKinney - click HERE.

More Model Trains & 11 Stops on our Scavenger Hunt!  Be sure to check out the largest size "G" Scale trains in the Fire & Rescue building. 

You will see the Redford Express & documentary 'A Railroad Runs Through It' at the former "Ashland Coffee & Tea" and now "Newfound Gathering Place & Eatery". Check out their awesome menu!

CSX & Operation Lifesaver Educates Our Community

CSX met with Cinder & Tender to promote Train Safety and they return again to share safety tips with our Train Day patrons and will have a special program called Operation Lifesaver at Stop #9 as part of the Scavenger Hunt. We are so grateful to CSX for being our signature sponsor and providing this educational program for our community.

Dec 1 Thurs 7pm:  Join the Light Up The Tracks Choir!  All Ashland residents, young and old, who want to sing in the Community Chorus at the Grand Illumination on Dec. 3rd are invited to the chorus’s one-and-only rehearsal at The Center (500 S. Center St) at 7pm.

Casino Royale
MAP would like to thank everyone who participated in the "Casino Royale" event which was held on October 15th. This was a wonderful evening of food, fun and prizes and it would not have been possible without the support of the many area businesses who sponsored games and donated prizes, the wonderful volunteers who gave so generously of their time and, of course, those who bought tickets and attended this special event.  Thanks again and we hope to see everyone back next year!
Train Day
Train Day is on November 5th and MAP will have a booth at this great event!   We hope that everyone will stop by the booth and show their support for our wonderful local businesses!
Christmas Parade
The annual Ashland Christmas Parade will be held on Sunday, November 20th at 2:30p.m.  This will be a fun family day and MAP will again have a float in the parade.  MAP members will meet the morning of the parade to decorate a float that will represent Ashland businesses in the hopes of encouraging everyone to "Shop Local"!

All About Main Street  & 'GET CENTERED' 

Ashland Main Street Association is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, founded to help build Ashland into a vibrant, diverse community of residents, businesses, arts and cultural organizations, and to bring visitors into historic downtown Ashland.  It works to preserve, enhance and promote downtown Ashland, to improve the economic vitality and livability of our unique town while preserving its historic character.  On June 7, 2013 Ashland Main Street Association was recognized as a designated Virginia Main Street Community.  

The Virginia Main Street Program is a preservation-based economic and community development program that follows the Main Street Four-Point Approachâ„¢ developed by the National Trust Main Street Center. Virginia Main Street offers a range of services and assistance to communities interested in revitalizing their historic commercial districts.  
'GET CENTERED' is Ashland Main Street Association's monthly newsletter that highlights events in the Center of the Universe.  We feature businesses, artists, nonprofits, Randolph-Macon College and town events in each issue.
