11th Annual Ashland Train Day - Saturday November 2nd 10am-5pm
TODAY - October 30th - Tune into Virginia This Morning - CBS 6 to hear from our Train Day Chairman, Bill Gatewood and Train Town Toy & Hobby owner Jim Donlon.  Be on the lookout for Cinder and Tender - the Train Day Bears as well.  There is something for everyone at Train Day!  Join the celebration in Downtown Ashland 'Center of the Universe' Saturday 10am-5pm on November 2nd
CSX Stage Installed Soon! 

Cinder, the Train Day Bear is pointing out where our CSX Stage will be installed for Train Day.   This is right in front of our new Ashland Main Street Office located at  210 S. Railroad Avenue.  Look for our sign this week! 

Music entertainment will take place on the CSX Stage!  Ashland local band, The Tender, sponsored by StyleCraft Homes and from Harrisonburg, VA - Everyday People Band, sponsored by Chick-fil-A will be performing throughout the day!  Click HERE to see your events guide.

Note:  There will be music at Ashland Coffee & Tea, the Library, the Visitor's Center, The Center and  the Farmer's Market.  Train Day is for music lovers too!

Train Day Founder & Chairman Honored

Join us at the CSX Stage at 11am on Train Day  to honor Ashland Train Day founder - Librarian Cathy Bach-McElroy.  In addition we will recognize Jim Donlon - Train Day Chairman from 2004-2012. We are very grateful to their dedication and creativity!  

Katie Kisner (left) from CSX met with Train Day Chairman - Bill Gatewood and Rosie Shalf, President of the Ashland Museum and Tom Wulf, Executive Director of Ashland Main Street Association to tour the Red Caboose & discuss the  History Museum's latest exhibit on Morse Code.   CSX brought goodies to share with our Train Day patrons and will have a special program called Operation Lifesaver at 11am at the CSX Stage.     We are so grateful to CSX for being our signature sponsor and providing this educational program for Ashlanders!  

Cinder visits Henry Clay & John M. Gandy Elementary Schools & Hanover Academy!
There is something for everyone at Train Day!  
Train Day is for History LOVERS too! 

Civil War History Mobile will be at the Visitor's Center all day! Tour an authentic Red Caboose at the Ashland Museum!   While you are there check out their newest exhibit "Ashland Reborn: 1865 to 1899".   The String-Tyme Minstrels & the dancers of the 12th Virginia Infantry will perform in period costumes!  Book signings at the museum: James Scanlon for his books on Randolph-Macon and Bentley Boyd of Chester Comix  will be signing his historic comic books.   In addition - Donna Deekens & Doug Riddell will sign their book "Virginia's Legendary Santa Trains" in front of the Iron Horse Restaurant - a historic location! 
The Ashland Museum is the place to be at 10:15am on Train Day!  See Morse Code in Action as Mayor Faye O. Prichard  participates in this BLUE RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY!
