Jake's Place Restaurant and Market celebrates their one year anniversary on Friday January 15th.  We consider their southern comfortable food a great example of culinary art!   They sponsored "A Christmas Story" at the Ashland Theater to benefit St. Joseph's Villa!  This Book Drive was very very successful!  Go by and thank Wendy Yohman and the team for giving back to the community!
The Ashland Police Department played a big role in helping out with the Head Start program at the Ashland Theater.  Rudolph and Scott Menzies (featured in this photo)  brought many smiles to our youngest citizens!  Tickets are still available for the Policeman's Ball 1/16!  Thank the officers in person!

Banner Year! 2016 HERE WE COME!
Thanks very much to all our downtown businesses, property owners and community enthusiasts for helping make 2015 a banner year for our Downtown Arts and Culture District.

The Ashland Main Street Association was proud to initiate or support numerous enhancements to the downtown, and we very much appreciated the contributions of our downtown businesses.  In 2015, Main Street was involved in the continuing renovation/operation of the Ashland Theater as a community asset, the 6th Annual Chalk Walk, the fanciful Bike Gardens, the October Spooktacular, the 13th annual Ashland Train Day, the Alvaro Coronado Ornament selection for the Governor's Tree, and Small Business Saturday.  We capped off the year with "Light Up the Tracks," which pulled together businesses, nonprofits, Randolph-Macon College and the Town to create an exciting new holiday experience for residents and visitors alike.  We also continued to support the Town's streetscaping and marketing initiatives.  We thank you for making this effort possible.

Thank You Downtown Ashland Businesses!

Main Street is currently getting input on a brief business survey that will pull together demographic data about each of our downtown businesses. This data will help us maintain our accreditation as a National Main Street organization, which makes Ashland eligible to receive a wide variety of development resources.    Business owners are requested to complete the online survey by January 15th.  Questions? email cotutheater@gmail.com or contact Tom Wulf at 804-301-6913.

Note:  As a thank you to our business owners for completing this data - Main Street is offering free assistance for improving business' web presence. Main Street intern, Randolph-Macon senior Ally Jensen will be working directly with downtown businesses to build their online profiles on sites like Google+, Facebook, Trip Advisor, Waze, Apple Maps, etc.  This effort will help improve Ashland's web presence and draw additional tourism traffic into our downtown.

Many thanks to our community and a special shout out to our business owners who help make Ashland "The Center of the Universe!"

Ashland Theater Update
Ashland Theater Community Meeting
Jan 28th 7pm

The Theater Committee is excited to roll out a scheduling line up for the rest of the winter that includes movies, live performances, and music. We remain committed to working with our business partners in Ashland, creating synergy and having community support for the theater moving forward. While the state's portion of the grant is still up in the air, we are moving forward with plans to renovate the theater and keep it as the gem it has always been. The strength of the theater has been- and will always be- the citizens of Ashland that are behind it. If you are interested in providing support for the theater as we move forward, we hope you will join us for the Ashland Theater Community Meeting - January 28th Thurs at 7pm at the theater - 205 England St.   We are in the process of building our fundraising and volunteer committees, and are grateful for your support of the Ashland Theater!

Check out the theater events below and look for more schedule updates at www.AshlandTheaterVA.org.

Email cotutheater@gmail.com to let us know your interest in helping with the theater.  We hope to see you on January 28th!
