The Ashland Theater SOLD OUT for their Grand Re-Opening on 11-21-14.



93 Groups visited the Ashland Santa and Mrs. Claus at the Ashland Theater before the Holiday Parade.  There are 3 more visits scheduled 12/4, 12/5 & 12/6!  Many thanks to Lorie Foley & her incredible volunteers for making this happen!

Ashland Santa & FIRST Thursday TONIGHT!
The very popular Ashland Santa & Mrs. Claus return to the Ashland Theater for 3 more visits starting tonight December 4th  which is also “First Thursday" in Ashland, where some retailers are open late.   Bring the entire family & Shop where it's Fun!

 Here's what's happening:
  
 Ashland Santa at the Ashland Theater! (5-7pm  205 England St.) Enjoy cookies and hot chocolate while the kiddies or YOU take pictures with the Ashland Santa, Mrs. Claus, Elves and there is rumor a Snow Queen will be there too!  It will be snowing on stage! This is a FREE public event.  (The Ashland Santa will also be here on Friday night 12/5 from 5-7pm &  Saturday morning 12/6 from 10am – noon.) What a great way to get into the holiday spirit!   


Visit Gallery Flux for their 3rd Annual Miniature Show! (5:30-8pm  307B England St.)   Over 30 artists will be exhibiting works 8" x 8" or smaller and priced $400 or less. Come by and begin your art collection, add to your current one, and buy some holiday gifts! Show runs til January 3, 2015



Home Energy Store Open House
(5:30-8pm 109 England St.)  This shop has amazing unique gifts that meet most price points.  They will have goodies & giveaways too. Oh - and ask about the cool community garden they started!  You have to love businesses that give back to our community!

Imagine sipping hot cocoa in a big red barn and then making as many fresh holiday decorations that you can carry.  No experience is necessary - experts are there to guide you through the process.  You can also purchase ready made items!  All the proceeds benefit the local non-profit Hanover Safe Place.  Click HERE to purchase tickets. Ashland Main Street Association is a proud supporter of featured artist & R-MC alum Jeremy Witt who organizes the annual Cross Mill Gallery art show.   Many talented artists are gathered in this amazing space. Central Virginia Dance Academy @ The Center Dec. 13th

Hanover Arts and Activities Center is proud to host Central Virginia Dance Academy's production of "The Nutcracker" again this year on December 13, 2014. Two shows at 11AM and 3PM. Tickets will only be sold at the door and are $2 per person. Doors will open 1/2 hour before show time and seating is limited so arrive early! Space will be available for small children to sit on the floor in front of the stage so they can see the beautiful dancing up close.  Ashland Museum Sponsors Holiday Walking Tour - Sunday, December 14th

Hurry!  Tickets are still available for the 4:30 pm tour which begins at the Ashland Museum (105 Hanover Ave) and continues through the old campus of Randolph-Macon College and onto College Avenue.  The tour lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes a stop for light refreshments at the home of Tom & Stacy Rowe at 304 College Avenue (picture above).  Note:  the tour at 2:30pm is sold out!  

Cost: Tickets are $25 in advance, $15 for museum members, and $30 at the door (if space is available). Ashland Main Street Association is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, founded to help build Ashland into a vibrant, diverse community of residents, businesses, arts and cultural organizations, and to bring visitors into historic downtown Ashland.  It works to preserve, enhance and promote downtown Ashland, to improve the economic vitality and livability of our unique town while preserving its historic character.  On June 7, 2013 Ashland Main Street Association was recognized as a designated Virginia Main Street Community.  

The Virginia Main Street Program is a preservation-based economic and community development program that follows the Main Street Four-Point Approachâ„¢ developed by the National Trust Main Street Center. Virginia Main Street offers a range of services and assistance to communities interested in revitalizing their historic commercial districts.  
 
'GET CENTERED' is Ashland Main Street Association's monthly newsletter that highlights events in the Center of the Universe.  We feature businesses, artists, nonprofits, Randolph-Macon College and town events in each issue.
