CSX & Operation Lifesaver Educates Our Community
Katie Kisner (middle) from CSX met with Cinder & Tender to promote Train Safety last year. They return again to share safety tips with our Train Day patrons and will have a special program called Operation Lifesaver at Stop #10 as part of the Scavenger Hunt. We are so grateful to CSX for being our signature sponsor and providing this educational program for our community.

Many thanks to Pam Bishop, owner of Off And Dancing! studio who has generously allowed Train Day to use her space to feature the larger "G" Scale model trains- a treat for all rail fans. This venue is located right across the street from Town Hall and the Red Caboose. Look for her grandfather's Lionel display in the window which includes vintage cars and their original manuals. We are so grateful that she volunteered her space to make our 12th Annual Train Day include more model trains than ever before! Check out Stop #7 and be sure to check out the dance demos in front of the Ashland Museum at 1pm & 3pm. We love businesses that give back to our community!

Rockfish Band, sponsored byTiny Tim's Toys & Roger Reynolds - "The Singing Conductor", sponsored by Hubbard Law Group, P.C. will be performing in the Library Plaza. Jim Duckett, sponsored by Homemades by Suzanne & The Hanover Concert Band will perform at the Visitors Center. Back by popular demand - Mathew Dodd, sponsored by the Richard S. Gillis, Jr. Library will be do rail tunes and storytelling inside the library. The Southern Engine 615 & the Meadow Street Band will perform at the Farmer's Market. The Masterworks Chorale will be performing Train Day Sing-Along songs all day at the Hanover Arts & Activities Center. The Olde Time Irish Jam and the Sea Chanters will be performing at Ashland Coffee & Tea. Off And Dancing! will perform Line and Swing dance demos in front of the Red Caboose at 1&3pm.

History LOVERS too!
Civil War History Mobile is back again this year and will be at the Visitor's Center all day! Tour an authentic Red Caboose at the Ashland Museum! While you are there check out their newest exhibit which showcases Ashland historic homes. A Civil War Ranger Program, sponsored by Ashland Simply Storage will also be on display. In addition Doug Riddell will sign the book "Virginia's Legendary Santa Trains" in front of the Ashland Visitor's Center - a historic location!
The Ashland Museum will have a Civil War Ranger Program and will have a model train on display in the back room of the museum. See the Scavenger Hunt conductor at Stop # 5 and be sure to tour the Red Caboose! The Ashland Firehouse Theater will have the documentary film "A Railroad Runs Through It" showing at 1&2pm.
Many thanks to Ed Hutchinson from the Ashland Kiwanis Club for organizing our volunteer force. He has recruited students from 4 high schools in the area and Key Club members at Randolph-Macon College. Train Day could not happen without the entire Kiwanis family.
