Welcome back!

The 432nd Session of the Maryland General Assembly begins at noon on Wednesday, January 11. For the next 90 days, 188 legislators will debate more than 2,500 pieces of legislation, many of which could impact Maryland businesses.

The Maryland Chamber of Commerce has already been working to aggressively promote legislation that advances economic growth and job creation, and to fight legislative efforts that hurt Maryland businesses. Through meetings and conversations with legislators, coalitions, committees and others, we’re well prepared for the start of session. Leading the fight for Maryland business are the members of the Chamber’s Government Affairs team, Larry Richardson, Richard Reinhardt and Kevin Rudolph

You can see where we stand on the most likely legislative initiatives on our website. If you’re a Chamber member, watch your email this week for exclusive access to legislative strategies and position information.* Throughout session, mdchamber.org and our new e-newsletter, “The Leading Voice,” will be your sources for how the Chamber is working for and with you.

The Chamber’s Government Affairs team expects an intense session focusing on job creation and expansion through tax incentives, streamlined tax apportionment, mandatory paid leave, unneeded expansion of civil liability for Maryland businesses, and several other relevant issues to Maryland business.
