CPAP has been the mainstay of sleep apnoea treatment since its inception in the early 80’s. Since then, the efficacy of the therapy has been proven time and time again, however compliance with the therapy has been somewhat of an issue. read more
Reversibility of brain injury in obstructive sleep apnoea
In a recent study by O’Donohu, the impact of cerebral metabolite changes on neurocognitive function and respiratory control in OSA was assessed and shows the changes are indicative of injury to white matter axons and glia, and inflammation in the hippocampus.  read more

A meta-analysis study recently published in Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine has revealed pan increases of systemic inflammatory markers found in patients with obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA). read more

The national sleep conference put on by ASA/ASTA was held in Brisbane this year. Half a dozen staff members attended the three day event which drew together physicians, technicians and commercial interests from across the nation to look at the latest research and latest commercial products.

Still in the news are TSGQ staff members and Physician Dr Andrew Scott who were featured on a Channel 9 special on how sleep affects everyday lives.
