Crossing Borders and Boosting Export

As 2014 is well on it's way we can look forward to an exciting few months in which we will launch the 18th edition of the SANEC Business Directory 2014  in both the Netherlands and South Africa. Furthermore the annual SADC Ambassadors lunch in the Netherlands will take place.

Two New Year Receptions to start off the New Year
Both of our offices started the New Year in a festive manner, by organising New Years Receptions both in Amsterdam and Johannesburg.
In South Africa, we were proud to co-organise the event with the Netherlands Embassy in Pretoria. The Reception was held at the Hilton in Johannesburg.

In the Netherlands, the New Years Reception was organised by SANEC and NABC at the Heineken Experience Center. Over 300 members attended this event.

Quarterly Member in Business Cocktail @ Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
The first SANEC Member in Business Cocktail of 2014 in the Netherlands will take place on the 27th of March at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol. This will prove to be a special Member in Business Cocktail as it will also be the Netherlands launch of the 2014 edition of the Business Directory. The South African Business Directory launch will take place on 3rd of April, more information on the South African event will follow soon.

Fenedex/SANEC Seminar 'Boosting Your Export'
Preceding the SADC Ambassadors Lunch in the Netherlands, SANEC and Fenedex will organise a seminar on 'Boosting your Export'. The seminar will provide first hand knowledge from exporting companies, experts and entrepreneurs doing business within southern Africa. During the plenary sessions, tips & tricks, do’s and don'ts , as well as practical information will be discussed. Subsequently, separate seminars will be held to discuss specific topics.

SADC Ambassadors Lunch in the Netherlands
On the 20th of May the annual SADC Ambassadors Lunch will take place at Kasteel de Wittenburg in Wassenaar, the Netherlands. This lunch offers a unique opportunity discuss business opportunities with the Ambassadors of the SADC countries, as well as meet new contacts.

IFSEC South Africa 2014
Public Security Innovation Center (PSIC) and SANEC will organise a trade mission for sector related delegates who will be participating at the Holland Pavilion at IFSEC International Fire and Security Exhibition and Conference from the 12th until the 16th of May 2014. Moving Forward
We are pleased to announce that the SANEC Johannesburg offices and the Cape Town offices have moved.
As of the 10th of February 2014 the Johannesburg offices are located at the La Val Office Park (North Building) on 45 Valley Road (corner of 45 Jan Smuts Avenue), Westcliff, Johannesburg. We are also proud to be hosting the South Africa- EU Business Links in our offices.
Cape Town
As of the 1st of April, the Cape Town Offices will be situated at the Netherlands Consulate General in Cape Town.

Opening of the Gauteng Investment Centre
The Gauteng Investment Centre (GIC) was officially launched in Johannesburg with the intention to make it easier for investors to do business in the province. The centre, which will be based in Sandton, was launched by Gauteng Premier Nomvula Mokonyane together with the MEC of Economic Development, Mxolisi Xayiya.

Aiming high with NAFTC Southern Africa
In 2012 SANEC signed a MoU with the NAFTC southern Africa (Netherlands Agro & Food Technology Centre). Following the success of NAFTC offices in Beijing (2008) and New Delhi (2011), we are working to open a NAFTC office in South Africa. The office will be based in the SANEC offices in the Dutch Consulate-General in Cape Town. If you are a Dutch company interested in the agri-food developments in the South(ern) African market and wish to take part in the NAFTC’s initiative in southern Africa then we would like to invite you to sign the attached letter of support and send it back to us. With your support we can develop the NAFTC programmes in cooperation with the Dutch Embassy and Consulate General.

Heusden meets Otjiwarongo and Walvis Bay Corridor Group
The twinning municipalities Heusden in the Netherlands and Otjiwarongo in Namibia are exploring possibilities for businesses to contribute to this important linking hub, situated along a number of Namibian corridors to the South African hinterland. Rhenus Logistics pilots ‘remote scanning’ in The Netherlands
During a festive opening ceremony on February 13th Rhenus Logistics and Dutch Customs Authority launched the ‘remote scanning’ pilot in the Netherlands. This pilot will focus on air shipment. Rhenus Logistics will scan the selected shipments via their own X-ray and will send these images in real time to the Dutch Customs Authority. Interested?  Dutch Minister Ploumen visit to Mozambique and Tanzania
Last week, the Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation visited Mozambique and Tanzania. The focus of this trip was on foreign trade, primarily on Energy and Transport. Over 30 Dutch companies joined the Minister, among them SANEC members Shell, Van Oord, BAM and Boskalis.

Oranje Park is opening its doors!
Het Oranje Park is a school offering Dutch education in Johannesburg. Both Dutch language and culture will be taught to children between ages 3-16 years old. Het Oranje Park will open on 5 March, 2014
