Economic Mission to South Africa
RVO, in cooperation with SANEC, facilitates an Ecomic Mission, headed by Dutch Ministers Schultz van Haegen (Infrastructure and Environment) and Ploumen (Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation). Release of carbon tax offsetting mechanism
In April 2014 the South African government has released a carbon tax offsetting mechanism aimed at lowering carbon-tax liability for businesses. This program is meant to complement the carbon tax South Africa plans to introduce as of 2016. EcoMetrix, in collaboration with SANEC will host a seminar to give insight into the current design of the carbon tax offsetting mechanism on 19 June. This seminar provides concrete assessment results a company can use in compiling and substantiating their response as a business or business related association (deadline June 30).

Netherlands Forensic Institute on Africa
The Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) provides assistance in protecting the abalone against poachers and helps local authorities to establish a chain of evidence. On the 20th of May, Mr. Andro Vos presented the NFI in South Africa. This presentation can be found in the link below

Transport and Logistics Case study
The Netherlands Embassy in Pretoria has requested GAIN (Growth and Intelligence Network) to draft a market analysis of the South African Transport and Logistics sector. During the 12th of May South Africa Transport seminar in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Nadia Viljoen, representative for GAIN, presented the extensive case study. The South African Volleyball team is on its way
July 2014 marks the qualification tournament month for the Olympic Games beach volleyball teams and South Africa will join to qualify. The South African team is registered as the best volleyball team in Africa and the expectations are high. The team will reside in The Hague from 13 till 20 July and is currently looking for accommodation sponsors. In return, the team is willing to participate in lectures or clinics.  A new cabotage service operated by Rhenus  Tora Logistics has revitalised the  Mozambique market and opened up a sea of  possibilities for transporting freight.
The service will connect Nacala with Pemba and Quelimane approximately every 10 days. Rhenus Tora’s cabotage service has been a challenge to establish because it has entered a fiercely competitive market, especially as Mozambique hasn’t benefited from a cabotage service for the past few years. But that has simply made the company more determined to succeed.

 GTP and DASUDA
 The Greater Tygerberg Partnership (GTP) and  the Dutch Alliance for Sustainable Urban  Development in Africa (DASUDA) have signed  a Memorandum of Understanding to initiate the Tyger Design Lab. The Lab will be used for the preparation of concept designs, master plans, urban design frameworks for major strategic land development sites, district and precinct regeneration plans and thematic design areas including transit malls, station redevelopments, open space systems and design guidelines for building and public space development, amongst others.

 ELIDZ news
 East London Industrial Development Zone  (ELIDZ), partner of SANEC, presents new  projects concerning Renewable Energy in South Africa. The so called Eco-Industrial Parks (EIPs) are a new type of industrial organization designed according to the principles of industrial ecology (IE) in attempt to reduce waste and efficiently share resources.
