We’re excited to be involved in bringing back I Am Team GB, an initiative inspired by Team GB and supported by Toyota to get as many people as possible physically active in their communities.

Inspired by the achievements of Team GB athletes and the amazing efforts of local community heroes, I Am Team GB have created The Nation’s Biggest Sports Day, taking place on Saturday 24 August 2019.

This is an excellent opportunity for:

  • clubs to get more people trying out their sport or physical activity
  • showcasing the amazing contributions volunteers make in their communities
  • targeting marginalised and inactive groups showing them the social value of sport
  • helping foster social cohesion and community development

It’s really easy to sign up as an I Am Team GB Games Maker and put on an activity for your local community. Click here to fill in your details and you’ll get the option to create your activity now or later, if you prefer. You'll get lots of support to help you put on your activity and receive an official I Am Team GB Games Maker T-Shirt and digital pack.

Yesterday our new CEO, Lisa Wainwright, officially joined us and shared an interesting fact about herself;

"So I was told I'd never be able to have kids, but me being me decided to have a go anyway. After three long years and lots of very interesting drugs and 'meetings' I had one, and then we had another!"

Talking of drugs, we wanted to remind you that this year’s Clean Sport Week runs from 20-26 May. The theme of this year’s week-long campaign is Image and Performance Enhancing Drugs (IPEDs).

Our friends at UKAD are calling on our NGBs, partners and athletes to support this year’s campaign across their communications channels with various activities and have provided a toolkit to support this during the build-up and throughout the week. If you'd like to get involved please get in contact with Nick Sargent.

Volunteers’ Week (1-7 June) is a time to say thank you for the fantastic contribution volunteers make. During the week, hundreds of events and celebrations take place across the country, saying thank you to volunteers and recognising their invaluable and diverse contribution to the UK.
