On April 25th, Greater Binghamton Chapter lifetime member, Kirk S. Hinkley IV '04g, was presented with the Alumni Achievement Award.

The Alumni Achievement Award recognizes alumni 35 years of age and younger for their extraordinary professional accomplishments. These prominent young alumni are nominated by an academic college or campus and invited by the president of the University to return to campus to share their expertise with students, faculty, and administrators. They demonstrate to students that Penn State alumni succeed in exceptional fashion at an early age.

Kirk is the medical director and chairman, Emergency Department at Moses Taylor Hospital, Great Bend Township, Pa.  He and his wife, Danelle live in Great Bend with their son, Kaleb.

The entire Greater Binghamton chapter extends a heartfelt congratulations to Kirk for his incredible achievements and work!

Congratulations to local student, Megan Springsteen, for earning Academic-All Big Ten Honors!  A school record 65 student-athletes were named Academic All Big Ten for the winter period. Megan, graduate of Owego Free Academy, is a senior majoring in Marketing.

Peggi Munkittrick is the Greater Binghamton Chapter’s current membership chairwoman.  She resides in Towanda, PA and also has an apartment in State College.  There she works for Schoolwires, a company (headquartered in Innovation Park) that creates software that school districts use to create and manage their websites.  As part of her job, Peggi has had the opportunity to travel all over the United States.  Like most of us she believes that Happy Valley is a special place that, once in your heart, stays there forever.

One of the benefits of working in State College is that every Wednesday and Thursday morning Peggi has breakfast at the Waffle Shop (special #4 is her favorite).  For dinner, she enjoys the fare at the American Ale House (particularly the pan roast and the seared scallops). Her favorite place on campus is Beaver Stadium, which means that the ring tone on her cell phone has been set to “Zombie Nation.”

Peggi’s best Penn State memory occurred on January 18, 2013.  On this day, she spoke before the Penn State Board of Trustees on the subjects of governance reform and improved transparency.  She met many strong and passionate Penn Staters at that meeting and walked away with an even stronger conviction to stand with them as they fought to navigate through the aftermath of the Sandusky Scandal.

She was accepted into the Doctoral Program in the College of Education for the Learning, Design, and Technology program at Penn State; but… chose to attend Temple instead.  We happily forgive her of this as her heart bleeds blue and white!  We know it takes more than a diploma to be a Penn Stater!

When at the Creamery Peggi chooses Happy Happy Joy Joy – a coconut flavored ice cream with butter roasted almonds and chocolate chips.

GBAPSU always has members looking for tickets to various Penn State sporting events.  If you have extra tickets and want to sell them on our ticket exchange contact us at
