Michele Steinhauser is the current president of the Greater Binghamton Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association. She is a 1989 graduate from the college of Human Development with a major in Nursing. While at Penn State Michele was part of the Student Health Advisory (1985-87), a member of the first Lion Ambassador group on the McKeesport Campus, a member of the Student Nurses Association of Pennsylvania (1987-89), and the Nursing class senior speaker (Spring 1989).
Currently Michele lives in Endwell with her husband, Kurt, and her two daughters, Sylvia and Sara. She is a faculty member at the Binghamton University Decker School of Nursing.
One of her favorite memories from her time at University Park in the late 80s is going out with friends on an icy Saturday evening. They crawled across Beaver Ave to get to the Park Hill Apartments because she and her friends were afraid they would fall in their skirts and heels. She also frequented the Shandygaff.
Now she enjoys going back to campus to mentor current nursing students. Michele and her family enjoy having shakes at Baby’s or eating at the Corner Room when they are back in State College. Michele’s favorite place on the University Park campus is the stadium lots while tailgating on football Saturdays. Although she admits that being anywhere on or off campus is always a good time.
After sampling many of the Berkey Creamery Ice Cream flavors this past summer Michele remains a steadfast fan of Peanut Butter Swirl.
