Have you ever thought about how a product gets made? It all starts with a need. Say, for example, you've searched your whole life for the kind of lipstick your grandmother wore in the 40s, with its matte finish and creamy consistency. You visit every store, but the product just doesn't exist. So, you decide to make it yourself. First comes the research phase to find a lab to develop your formula. Next, you’ll have to find a manufacturer to make your product, and designer to create your packaging. Then you'll need to sort out distribution and find someone who can do tailor-made market research. Finally, you're ready to go to market.
But the road from ideation to actual creation is not as linear as it may seem. Mishaps happen - production might get halted for reasons beyond your control, your product may not make a big splash at its debut, or you may have to go back to the drawing board altogether. And that’s okay - the lessons you learn along the way are utterly invaluable. And ultimately, you’ll be glad you took the journey.
This week, we're excited to bring you a session on the product development process, a pitch event on innovative solutions for transforming cities, an Ask Me Anything session, and MORE!
