The number of Covid cases in Dutchess County is way down. People are truly ready to celebrate a return to  semi-normal life. The HVBA is celebrating by having its first indoor concert in TWO years and what better band to help us mark this occasion than our own, TOO BLUE!!!

Save some money and buy your tickets in advance. If you've never heard Too Blue (but who hasn't) or if you've never been to the James Earl Jones Theater....you are in for a treat.

Frank Wakefield-Mandolinist Extraodinaire-Part One

By Andy Bing

I don't know about all of the readers out there (and there are a LOT of you), but, personally, I so look forward to the monthly column by Andy Bing. The HVBA is so fortunate to have two of the most knowledgable bluegrass buffs in NYS writing for our website. Dick Bowden and Andy Bing are walking bluegrass encyclopedias and, boy, can they write.

This week Andy takes his first pass at Frank Wakefield's career. If you follow Andy's educational series, you already know how valuable his articles are to you. They never fail to capture us.

Just "WOW!"

CD Review by Dick Bowden

Trust me, this review is one you do NOT want to miss. Dick Bowden is giving a Bill Monroe history lesson here and it is well worth your time to read every single word.

Here's just a bit of what Dick has to say about this CD:

"If you play any bluegrass instrument (sorry, Dobro players) and want to learn some GREAT new tunes for your repertoire, reach out to MikeCompton.net and order this. Maybe you just want to “understand” Bill Monroe a bit more – buy this. If you’re a Monroe completist, if you like “traditional” bluegrass picking, if you’re a fan of Mike Compton or any of this band – buy this! I hope hearing this music makes you feel as proud for Mike Compton and his team as it makes me feel. Believe me, legions of Monroe mandolin and Mike Compton fans are losing their sh*t right now over this new release! Possibly the biggest traditional bluegrass release of 2022, instrumental or not."

New Trivia Question

This week's question is about Bluegrass Brothers. Not too hard, but challenging enough to take a guess at it. You might get lucky.
