Editor's Note: The HVBA received the following "letter to the editor" after the publication of our first promotion of Dick Bowden's Flying Circus.
Many thanks for this timely reminder, HVBA. It's only 3 weeks away, so mark the calendar indeed.
I am happy to report that The Colonel and Sargent-Major have done a splendid job preparing this new squadron for action. Rehearsals at an undisclosed location have proven most satisfactory.
The aerial artists for this mission include: Fiddling Pharmacists Mate Ophelia Feelgood, R.N. (Royal Navy, not Registered Nurse); Bassist Ms. Two-Lumps from Regimental HQ; mandolinist, the famed palindromic photographer Norman O. Namron; and newest recruit on banjo, the well-known male model Mr. Eric Praline. All will be under the cruel but fair guiding hand of Colonel Buff-Orpington who will play guitar.
Sargent-Major assures me that the bluegrass music will be SOLIDLY traditional. No pick-ups, ear monitors, laser light show, vocal swooping, hammer dulcimer, Celtic/Americana/Swing/Klezmer/Jazz, nor cannibalism. There is NO cannibalism in the RAF -- and when I say "no", I mean very little.
I do hope throngs will turn out for this program, and if each audience member brings two friends, we will have a triple-throng, which can be hard to pronounce quickly.
Please direct any questions directly to The Colonel, at his Facebook page "Colonel Buff-Orpington".
Thank you for your interest.
