This is it, folks!!! This is the final concert of our 2021 Lawn Concert Series and we are going to treat you to some truly excellent musicianship on Sunday. We're sad to see this series come to an end, but we will go out with a huge bang!!!
Bees in the Barn is a high energy quartet of internationally accomplished musicians working across many genres. For the finale of our summer concert series, the Bees have prepared a special program that will be a perfect bookend to a great season. They will perform traditional favorites by Bill Monroe and others, as well as their own dynamic original music that dances along the boundaries of Bluegrass.
The HVBA review of their debut album noted: "compositions not tunes is the proper term for music with this level of complexity and intricacy. Yet the music is tuneful and compelling throughout. Intelligent without being cerebral, adventurous but not esoteric, Bees in the Barn cultivates the best tendencies of forward-thinking music. Bees In The Barn delights audiences with music that is arrestingly novel yet oddly familiar.”
The group’s principal composer, August Eriksmoen (mandolin), is a Grammy-nominated producer, Tony-nominated orchestrator, and recipient of London's Olivier Award. Notable credits include Come From Away, and Steve Martin's Bright Star. Jordan Shapiro (guitar), plays guitar with Astrograss, keyboards on the 2018 album "World of Captain Beefheart," and also contributes compositions. Nate Allen (bass), and Sara Milonovich (fiddle) are highly sought-after musicians regularly in demand in the studio and on the road in the U.S. and abroad.
