Good morning, Wildcats!

It's the third week of school, so hopefully by now you've gotten into the swing of things.  If you're still struggling to find that easy groove of college life, don't worry, we're here for you! This edition is packed with campus resources and blogs to help you become a successful, confident student!  As class workloads start to pile up, make sure you are taking some time for yourself to rest and de-stress.  Find that happy balance between work and play!

 9/8: Last day to use UAccess to drop classes

  • Last day to drop without a W (Classes dropped on or before this date will remain on your UAccess academic record with a status of dropped, but will not appear on your transcript.)

9/15: Last day to increase units without $250 late registration fee

9/16: $125 unpaid tuition charge applied
Forget the myths, here are the facts about a few of the best resources on campus!

University Technologies:
  • Sometimes UAccess can be hard to navigate, especially as a new user. If you are not quite sure what you need to do, look at your To Do List  located on the right hand side of your UAccess home screen.
  • Make sure you reference your syllabi on D2L or Blackboard for office hour times and locations! It is never too early to start going to your professors' office hours for additional questions from class or homework. 
Resources for a healthy life: 
  • Many people come to college and feel pressured to party, drink, or have sex.  It is important to know all the facts about drinking and your sexual health, so check out Campus Health's Red Cup Q&A and SexTalk to ask questions and find out more information.
  • The “Freshman 15” is real, but it does not have to happen to  you. Go to the Student Union's Nutritional Information for healthier food options that are available on campus!

 
9/8: Cultivate your mind and relieve some stress from 1:30-2:30pm at the Mindfulness and Meditation training! Located in the Kiewit Auditorium in the UA Cancer Center

9/9: Cooking on Campus: Love Your Lunches! It can be hard to eat healthy with so many fast food options, so join student and Celebrity Chefs as they give tutorials for quick and healthy meals! The event goes from 5:15-6:30pm. It's only $5 to register for the cooking class online through the Rec Center. Bon Appétit!

9/12: Farmer's Market Friday is the place to be to get Tucson's local fruits and veggies! The farmer's market is open from 10:00am -2:00pm in the Arizona Health Sciences Center. Remember to check out the vendors who have delicious ready-made food!

9/12: Get pumped up for the game on Saturday with Bear Down Friday! The event begins at 4:00pm at Main Gate Square and goes up to 7:00pm.

9/13: Don't miss our Wildcat Football team take on Nevada at Arizona Stadium starting at 8:00pm.

As you've probably already figured out, there are tons of myths out there about college life. You can start debunking these misconceptions by reading Alicia's Blog, "What We Really Do."

Transitioning from high school to college is a life changing experience, one that offers countless opportunities to discover and find your identity. Check out Casey's Blog, "When Will My Reflection Show?" to get some guidance for finding yourself during your freshman year.
