Dear PHS –
When Jon and I joined this amazing community a year and a half ago, one of the things were most excited to do was to get to know you – as individuals, families, community members, and friends. It's been painful this year to remain so separate from one another, especially while everyone is undergoing so many transitions, challenges, and milestones. I know we are not alone in feeling this.
In an effort to acknowledge this reality and begin to re-weave our stories together, we are creating a PHS Community Haggadah Companion. Our goal is to capture a multitude of voices, reflections, and perspectives in our community on this holiday of redemption, a year after individual and collective trauma and challenge. We hope that by putting this supplement together folks will have a chance to reflect on the past year and reconnect with each other, even if we're still not able to fully gather together.
We will send everyone a printable PDF copy of the final version ahead of Seder, on Thursday, March 25.
With gratitude and looking forward to hearing your stories and sharing a bit of our own,
Faith and R' Jon Leener
HOW TO SUBMIT: Fill out this form with directions included
DEADLINE: All submissions due by March 21 5pm EST
PLEASE NOTE
- You do not need to write a d'var Torah or a long essay – you can use one of the prompts provided (strictly, or as a jumping off point) or just offer an open ended reflection that feels poignant to you as we enter Passover. You can spend a few days writing, or just jot down a quick 300 word reflection. Length is not important – it's much more important that you are included!
- Feel free to be creative with the form of your submissions. Photos, poems, art are welcome as well. Please just share 1-3 sentences about your intention in including your submission.
- We really hope to incorporate *children's* perspectives and drawings. Check in with your kids and see if they would like to be included. Toddler "drawings" welcome!
