Reminder: Join Rabbi Leener *tonight*!
Dear PHS Family,
I’m writing to you today because I need your help.
In the spirit of Elul, a month dedicated for both individual and communal introspection I hope you will consider joining me on Sunday, August 23rd at 8:30pm for a brainstorming session for the upcoming year.
These are truly unprecedented times with far reaching challenges. Meeting the spiritual, emotional, and physical demands of our diverse congregation during this global pandemic is a daunting task. I’ve tried my best, but I recognize that I’ve fallen short in many ways as well. For those who have felt neglected or unseen during these challenging times — I’m truly sorry.
Coming out of Tisha B’Av, I feel called to begin rebuilding and dreaming for what our shul can be for the upcoming year of 5781. This is the ultimate Jewish response to destruction and loss. In fact, Rabbi Kalonymus Kalman Shapira teaches that we build through brokenness just as God built our world through the shards of previous worlds.
I have faith in our collective wisdom, compassion, and generosity to create a meaningful path forward, and I ask you to join us on this journey
Again, please join us on August 23rd at 8:30 pm. I will give a short introduction, and then open the virtual floor to a discussion of how you think PHS can meet this moment and build a community that is sustaining for us all.
Please RSVP to receive Zoom info.
