Shacharit 9:30 am
Mincha 6:30 pm
Please see our recent email
about our plan for outdoor davening moving forward.
This upcoming Shabbat, please join us to wish tzeitchem l'shalom to two long-standing families in our community.
Moshe Wiedenfeld and Shanee Epstein are, after many years, finally making aliyah. Moshe and Shanee are among the founding members of PHS and have been a fixture in the Park Slope/Prospect Heights community for decades. Put simply, our shul would not exist without them.
Andy Shugerman and Karen Kranson will be moving to Pittsburgh, where Andy will be serving as Development Director for Beth Shalom in Squirrel Hill. Andy and Karen have been part of the PHS community for many years, and Andy has served as one of our ba'alei tefilah on the yamim noraim.
We're sad to see them leave but grateful for the time we've had with them and the many ways they've helped build our community. Please join us at 4pm this shabbat at the Shabbat Tree to share a l'chaim and wish them well! (questions about where to find the Shabbat Tree? firstname.lastname@example.org)
Pirkei Avot Shiur
In keeping with the tradition to learn Pirkei Avot in between Pesach and Shavuot, Rabbi Leener will be teaching a Pirkei Avot shiur 30 minutes before Mincha on Shabbat afternoon. This class with start on April 17 at the lot.
Need Help Getting a Vaccine Appointment?
Good news! New York is expanding COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to all those 30 years and older, with 16 and older coming next week. Need help getting an appointment? Fill out this form and we'll reach out to coordinate! We are organizing volunteers to help search for appointments online. Want to volunteer, register here.
As a matter of Jewish tradition, I strongly encourage everyone to follow the advice of the medical community and get vaccinated. As Jews, we’re charged to uphold and protect the sanctity of human life. This is a safe and easy way to fulfill this most sacred of obligations.
I strongly suggest using TurboVax when searching. TurboVax finds appointments from government-run vaccine sites in the NYC area.
Support PHS through Amazon Smile
A reminder that PHS is now eligible for the AmazonSmile program. With the AmazonSmile program, Amazon will donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible Amazon purchases to PHS at no extra cost to you! Set PHS as your default charity through this link, or visit smile.amazon.com directly every time for your purchases to count towards a PHS donation.
Community Volunteer Opportunity: Crown Heights JCC at 899 Montgomery Street is looking for volunteers to support the food pantry they created to meet the rising need for emergency food assistance in Crown Heights. To sign up to package food and/or to drive, follow this link. This is an ongoing opportunity. If you have any further questions, email Jeremy Nicholson.
Community Support: We are blessed with many generous community members who are eager to support the broader PHS community during this difficult time. If you are in a position to offer a good or service (e.g. an old laptop for work or school, help with groceries or medications) please fill out the following spreadsheet. Questions may be sent to email@example.com.
COVID-19 Relief Fund: Rabbi Leener is still maintaining a COVID-19 tzedakah fund, through which he has been able to discreetly provide direct financial assistance, provide hot meals, and support funeral arrangements for those in need. If you are able, please donate here, and specify that the gift is being made for relief funds.
Thank you and tizku l'mitzvot.
