Final Session: Finding God In Isolation
"Finding God in Isolation" Featuring Rabbi David Kasher
by March 4 at noon. (Zoom info will be emailed to you on March 4 before the event
Coming Out of the Pit of Isolation: Lessons from the Story of Joseph
The Book of Genesis ends with a great reunion. After a long and twisted tale of deception, Joseph finally reveals himself to his brothers and soon brings his entire family down to Egypt. But for twenty-two years, Joseph had been alone — physically, culturally, and spiritually alone. How did he cope with his forced isolation? What finally allowed him to emerge from it? And what did it take to reintegrate into a life - and a self - he had almost forgotten? From one of the most psychologically complex characters in the Torah there is much to learn about the journey out of isolation that - God willing - awaits us all.
The last year has been a painful reminder of our mortality and has led many to ask new questions around death. Join Rabbi Leener and members of the PHS community as we explore Jewish ideas around death, the soul, and the afterlife. Does Judaism believe in heaven and hell? Reincarnation? Where do we "go"? These are just a few of the questions we will be studying. In these isolating times, we hope learning in a continuous cohort will bring much needed connectivity.
*The cohort is open to everyone, no previous knowledge is required, however we will be limiting the class to 15 people, so please sign up ASAP
