Community Volunteer Opportunity: Crown Heights JCC at 899 Montgomery Street is looking for volunteers to support the food pantry they created to meet the rising need for emergency food assistance in Crown Heights. Volunteers will sort food and package to-go pantry bags that will then be distributed to clients. They are also looking for drivers to deliver these food packages. To sign up to package food and/or to drive, follow this link. This is an ongoing opportunity. If you have any further questions, email Jeremy Nicholson.
Community Volunteer Opportunity: Camp Friendship (in Park Slope) is looking for volunteers for their food relief projects. Their most immediate needs are: Friday Drivers. Folks who can drive and deliver meals Fridays 12-3 (bring your own car and a copilot if you can) and Tuesday shifts in August. They continue to accept donations of non-perishable items at Camp Friendship 12-4 on Tuesdays and 10-1 on Saturdays, as well as at several bars that have drop boxes: Skylark on 5th Ave and Angry Wade's on Smith Street. They also accept durable bags like Fresh Direct bags to use in distribution. Sign up here to volunteer, or just bring donations during the donation time.
You can also donate directly to our GoFundMe site at https://www.gofundme.com/f/park-slope-food-pantry-at-camp-friendship and we'll use the funds to purchase more food. We've raised over $5,000 so far! And we'll keep going as we serve more people each and every week.
Community Support: We are blessed with many generous community members who are eager to support the broader PHS community during this difficult time. If you are in a position to offer a good or service (e.g. an old laptop for work or school, help with groceries or medications) please fill out the following spreadsheet. If you are seeking assistance, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the list directly. Questions may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
COVID-19 Relief Fund: Rabbi Leener is still maintaining a COVID-19 tzedakah fund, through which he has been able to discreetly provide direct financial assistance, provide hot meals for 80 people, and support funeral arrangements for those in need. If you are able, please donate here, and specify that the gift is being made for relief funds.
Thank you and tizku l'mitzvot.

ERUV SUBSTITUTE CHECKERS NEEDED IN AUGUST.
We need eruv checkers for Thursday August 20. If the eruv is not checked, it can not be relied on for Shabbos Shoftim, August 21 and 22. The eruv needs to be checked during daylight on Thursday so that if repairs are needed they can be made the evening before Shabbos. It needs to be checked during daylight so the checker can clearly see the status. Checking the entire eruv by car takes about 1 hour. It can be divided between multiple checkers. It can also be checked by bicycle or on foot. If you haven't checked before you need to be trained. Training takes about 1 hour plus. Training will be on Thursday August 6 and 13 during the day (during the weekly check). However, if this time doesn't work another time can be arranged.
Please contact Zusha Dean, 917-514-4052 or email@example.com if you are able to help.
The PHS community relies on the Greater Crown Heights Eruv, the Brooklyn Heights Eruv, and the Park Slope Eruv. For a map of the boundaries for the eruvim please follow this link. To donate for the upkeep of the Greater Crown Heights Eruv click here.
