Hi there,

My name is Nicole Pryor, I'm a press officer for charity WIEGO (Women in Informal Employment: Globalizing and Organizing).

WIEGO is releasing the first round of a study into the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on informal workers. It reveals how informal workers have survived the crisis by pawning off their assets, digging into their savings, and falling prey to exploitative debt traps. The data also reveals the severe consequences the crisis has had on workers and their families.

Please find attached a press release outlining the findings of the study. The press release links to a blog which dives deeper into the findings.

Sally Roever, WIEGO's International Coordinator, and Mike Rogan, WIEGO's Interim Director, Urban Policies Programme, are available for interviews. WIEGO can also help facilitate interviews with workers affected by COVID-19.

Kind regards,
Nicole Pryor
