Community Hub Update & New Ministry Engagement Team (18 Nov 2020)

Do you see the structural steel posts and beam now in place?
This week the construction crew begins with wood framing.

Pictured at the 'front entrance' of the Hub are (L to R), Lori Ann Burns, Joan Hawkes, Megan Smith-Landry, Justin Landry and Peter Lightfoot.

Rev. Shawn is pictured standing where the minister's future office will be located.

On Sunday a group from Visions known as our New Ministry Engagement Team did a site visit and a drive-tour of this area of Moncton to discover the various neighbourhoods. Justin Landry is a data scientist, so he is helping us better understand the demographic study prepared for Visions last year. Knowing who is our 'neighbour' helps us communicate and plan programs and outreach.

Spirit Gathering Update
The November 22nd Spirit Gathering will be online. Please stay tuned for further updates!
Vision Aiders Moment: Gifts with Vision
This year, a lot of us are giving gifts in new and different ways, and our celebrations may be virtual rather than in person.

One great gift without excessive packaging or the need for an exchange is a gift from Gifts with Vision. Those in whose name you give will know you care, and every single gift helps the people who need it most, saving and transforming lives.

The world has changed so much since this time last year, and some of the new gifts reflect that, showing how our partners are responding to the pandemic

You can provide sanctuary and support for Indigenous people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

You can make sure children in a rural community have enough to eat on the weekends, when school lunches are not available.

You can help grandmothers across Africa secure the future for the orphaned grandchildren who still rely on them for guidance and support.

Last year we were able to give out catalogues. This year we hope you will shop and give from the online catalogue or phone 1-844-715-7969.

TOYLAND

Please check out this VIDEO on Toyland 2020.

COVID-19 will NOT stop Toyland at Moncton Headstart from happening this year!! It will look different, with more rules and restrictions, but will be there for hundreds of needy children.
If you wish to help, you may donate gift cards ($30.00 value per card or less) or money (special envelopes will be provided for monetary donations). You can do this at Visions’ in-person services or you can phone Glenna at 383-8240 or 850-4096 to arrange pick-up.
As in previous years, tax receipts will be issued.

Advent Small Group Study –
“Now Is the Time”
Monday evenings 7-8 pm Nov. 23rd, 30th, Dec.7th and 14th online via Zoom.
We begin by re-imagining the Advent and Christmas stories happening in this time of COVID-19. We live in liminal space and new possibilities are born out of living in such a space. We explore spiritual practices for dwelling in such a time as this, and look to the future with eyes of faith. This Prayer Bench study will be facilitated by Brian Botten. Please register for the study at office@visionsunited.ca . Once registered, you will be contacted with the Zoom log-in information.

Calendars for Inmates at Springhill

We are still collecting calendars for inmates at Springhill.
The deadline is November 30th. Please drop them off at the Visions office
or call Jane Aikman (384-7212) or Lila Briggs (384-7582) to arrange pick-up.
