Huge wall art appearing in Ahuriri

As part of the Seawalls: Murals for Oceans Festival, taking place 11-19 March, 28 national and international artists are painting huge murals throughout Ahuriri. Check out this fantastic mural, recently completed on the Navigate Seaside Accommodation building on Waghorne Street. Click here to find out more about the Seawalls event.

The Tremains Triathlon is back for 2016!

Starting 10:30am, 13 March at Pandora Pond, business teams and individuals will compete for bragging rights in a 600m swim or 1,700m kayak, 5km run or walk and a 20km bike ride, finishing at The Esplanade Domain in Westshore. Land a big fish for a big prize!

To be held 12 and 13 March, competitors of the Breakers Family Fishing Classic could land a big prize of a family trip to Disneyland in Los Angeles or a trip for four adults to Samoa. Healthly Eating breakfast with Alison Cowell

Head to Ahuriri Pharmacy 7:30am, 18 March to enjoy a delicious breakfast smoothie while you listen to Alison Cowell from Healthy Eating talk about the keys to feeling healthy and living with vitality, checking for the three most common intolerances and how to assess your current health status. Tickets are limited and only $10.00 from Ahuriri Pharmacy.

Offshore Powerboats Return to Ahuriri

The New Zealand Powerboat series returns to Ahuriri for the Red Steel 100 on 19 March. The series consists of two championships, the 100 mile and 60 mile, with each championship consisting of different classes depending on the type and size of the boats and motors. Capable of reaching up to 200km per hour, the powerboats will be on show at the Napier Sailing Club, 9am Saturday 19 March for the chance to get up close for a photo or two. Racing starts at 1pm, to find out more visit the NZOffshore website.

Get ready for the 2016 Big Easy this Easter!

Starting 10am Easter Saturday, 26 March at Church Road, cyclists will hit the limestone off-road Hawke’s Bay Trails, enjoying 43km of tasty stops before finishing in Havelock North for a well deserved rest. Click here to register, or visit the Big Easy website for more information.

Napier Port Propsed Berth and Dredge Plan

The Napier Port is proposing the construction of a new berth within the existing boundary that would be long enough and deep enough to handle the vessels currently calling, but also provide scope for larger vessels and increasing container volumes in the future.
