Back to School Sale, Literary Jewelry for Halloween, and More

Hello <<First Name>> and welcome to September! I hope you had a safe and happy Labor Day weekend. I am so excited that we are heading into autumn. I love the fall weather - crisp but not too cold – perfect knitting weather! It also doesn’t hurt that there are only a few more weeks until Nashville (my current T.V. obsession) comes back on the air.

Fall is the beginning of the busy season here at Ciarrai Studios as we ramp up into the holidays so there are a lot of things in the works that I am excited about. But before we jump ahead to Halloween and Thanksgiving and beyond, I want to take a moment to wish “Good Luck!” to all the teachers and librarians, students and parents who are heading back to school. I hope you have the best year ever!
Speaking of going back to school, I am having a Back to School Sale. Start the new school year with handmade jewelry inspired by your favorite books and poetry, now 15% off. Like Ciarrai Studios on Facebook and get an extra 5% off your order. (Details can be found here) The sale ends on September 30th so don’t miss out!

100 Days Until Christmas Sale

Save even more on September 16th with my 100 Days Until Christmas Sale. This one-day event is designed to help you get a head start on your holiday shopping.  Details will be available on the Ciarrai Studios Facebook Page starting, Friday, September 13th.

New and Upcoming Products

I am starting to get ready for Halloween with some new jewelry designs inspired by spooky books, poems, and stories like Edgar Allen Poe’s "The Tell Tale Heart."

With a black and white anatomical heart over text from Poe’s famous story, the Tell Tale Heart Necklace is perfect for Halloween or for book lovers who aren’t afraid of things that go bump in the night.
I am working on a few more Halloween designs, including necklaces inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula and by Joseph Kesselring’s dark comedy, "Arsenic and Old Lace."  Check the Ciarrai Studios Facebook page  for announcements of when the new designs are available.

Upcoming Events

I am thrilled to announce that Ciarrai Studios will be participating in the upcoming Women’s Expo, held on October 3rd at the Middle Country Library. More details can be found at: http://www.womensexpoli.org/

I am especially excited because this is the first time I will actually be at the event and able to represent myself and my work. I am looking forward to getting to meet my customers and see their reactions to my jewelry! If you are local to Long Island, NY, (or are going to be in the area on October 3rd), please stop by and say “hi!” I would love to see you!

I will also be at the Granite State Comicon in N.H. on September 28th and 29th. For details, visit: http://www.granitecon.com/. I will be sharing a table with the wonderful and talented Nikki O’Shea from Dragonpress Graphics, creator of fabulous fantasy art and gorgeous graphite portraits.

If you are in N.H. and love comics or gaming, please stop by and visit us. It looks like it will be a fun event and I am definitely going to be looking for someone to play a board game or two with once the dealer’s room closes!

Facebook Fun

Come join in the conversation at the Ciarrai Studios Facebook page .  On Monday’s I host an online crafting circle where everyone is invited to share whatever creative projects they are working on or have finished recently. Art, photography, crafts, knitting, quilting, creative writing, baking, all kinds of creativity is fair game. If you made it, then we would love to hear about it. Makers of all levels are welcome!

And then on Wednesday, the conversation turns to books: what we’ve read recently, what we’re reading, what’s on the “to-read” list. I discovered a charming new book, Susan Branch’s A Fine Romance, through the “What We’re Reading” thread. And it could only get better with more voices chiming in.

Etsy Treasury Challenge

I would also like to invite you to take the Etsy Treasury Challenge. (You can find more information about Etsy Treasuries here).

Every week, we pick a theme and then see who can create the best treasury for that theme. We've got a great group but we are looking for more participants. Submit a treasury of your own or help us determine the winner by voting.

We will be voting on this week's challenge (Children's Books) until Wednesday.  Entries for next week's challenge are due on Wednesday as well. Our theme will be The Last Days of Summer. We've even gotten a few entries for next week already, including my submission, Fields of Gold.

To participate, simply join the Etsy Treasury Challenge Facebook Page.

Pinterest Board of the Month:

Treasuries of the Month:

A selection of my favorite treasuries, both treasuries that I have made myself and ones that feature one of the items in my shop.

Recipe of the Month:

  • Crescent Roll Cheese Danish - This easy-to-make recipe was quick and yummy as written but I think adding some lemon zest would make it to die-for!

Book of the Month:

  • Susan Branch’s A Fine Romance: Falling in Love with the English  Countryside. You can read my review of this charming book (and a lovely reply by the author) here on the Ciarrai Studios Blog.
Well's that's it for me this month. I hope you'll visit the shop, especially during the 100 Days Until Christmas Sale, and join in all the fun on Facebook. I will talk to you all again in October but until then, take care and have a great month!
