Altogether Better 
If you were one of the 50,000 people who attended and/or were involved in the Subiaco Street Party, get ready for more events, activities and vibrancy in the town centre as the city rolls out its first community-led Place Plan. The plan is based on 3000 ideas and comments gathered from the community and includes the activation of vacant shop fronts, a winter nights live music series and a new 'prototype festival' in 2020.

The first of these exciting activation will begin this winter. For the full list of actions, time frames, view the Place Plan here.

 CURTIN IGNITION PROGRAM

Ignite your business idea

The City of Subiaco has partnered with Curtin University to bring their Ignition Scholarship Program to Subiaco. Ignition is an intensive, one-week training program for aspiring entrepreneurs, academics and corporate innovators to trial then prepare business ideas for the commercial environment. This program is suitable for you if you are committed to your business idea and open to learning.

How to apply
To give potential candidates the tools to apply, the City is hosting an information session on Thursday 30 May, 10am to 11am or you can attend any of the sessions available on Curtin's website

PARKING MATTERS

Did you know?

  • There are over 10,000 parking bays in the City of Subiaco.
  • The City offers parking permits for employees of businesses that operate in Subiaco Town Centre at the former Coles rooftop car park at 277 Barker Road. Find out more information here.
  • We offer first hour free parking is offered in the City of Subiaco town centre car parks.
  • Free evening and weekend parking is available at six designated town centre carparks with no ticket and no time limits.
  • $5 all-day parking in thirteen carparks in the eastern quarter of Subiaco, near Subiaco Oval and Mueller Park.
  • The EasyPark app allows you to pay for your parking session easily and on-the-go. Find out more about EasyPark app here

Good News!
We love to hear the great things our business community has been up to, so we thought we'd share some of the stories we have come across this month.

Racheal Keeley Brow Academy
Racheal, founder and owner of For Your Eyes Only on Catherine Street has recently launched the Racheal Keeley Brow Academy where she runs masterclasses for budding brow enthusiasts to learn the tricks of the trade. Find out more about Racheal's new venture here.

Pragma Legal
Pragma Legal services located on Rokeby Road have been listed as a finalist in the 2019 Australasian Law Awards for State/Regional firm of the year. The Awards Ceremony will be held in Sydney on 23 May. Good Luck Pragma!

SRG Global Ltd
In April 2019 SRG, whose headquarters are located on Barker Road, informed the market that its Geotech business had been awarded an $18 million contract for ground support works with Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM), a joint venture owned by Newmont Australia and Barrick Gold Corporation in Western Australia. Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) workshops

Covering a range of key business topics, these practical workshops are packed full of  information and useful tips. They are the perfect way to get your business skills up to speed. ANZAC Day

ANZAC Day is recognised as an occasion of national remembrance. It is a time to remember all Australian service men and women, and reflect on the many different meanings of war.  The City of Subiaco supports two events at Shenton Park and Subiaco.

 FEDERAL BUDGET UPDATE

What it means for small business
This year’s budget has been framed against a backdrop of strengthening the national economy. Highlights include personal income tax cuts, improved digital technology and the extension of the instant write-off provision.
