The Future Postal Service

Subiaco's town centre will be buzzing on Saturday 21 February with children taking part in The Future Postal Service, a high-energy, big-thinking, mail delivery game.

The City of Subiaco is pleased to support this innovative free, family-friendly event, which guides children through a series of stations; thinking, drawing and delivery training, before delivering a postcard as a random act of kindness to a passer-by.

It all takes place between 10am and 4pm on Rokeby Road where it intersects with Park Street, between Brew-Ha Cafe and the Subiaco Post Office. For more information about The Future Postal Service, visit perthfestival.com.au

Subiaco pARk

Subiaco pARk is a sculpture park with a difference, located at Theatre Gardens off Bagot Road in Subiaco.

Eight Western Australian artists were commissioned by the City of Subiaco to create seven artworks for the project utilising AR, or 'augmented reality', which involves adding digital content such as graphics, sound and animation to real world environments.

The artworks are invisible to the naked eye and viewable only via the Subiaco pARk app, developed by local innovative architectural design team Felix. Once downloaded to your smartphone or tablet, the app interacts with the device's GPS and camera functions to reveal a hidden world of sound, text and 3D objects.

The Subiaco pARk app is available free from the App store for Apple iOS or the Google Play Store for Android.

Subiaco pARk runs until Sunday 29 March as a Perth International Arts Festival event supported by Visual Arts Program Partner Wesfarmers Arts. For more information visit www.subiaco.wa.gov.au/pARk or follow @subiacopARk on Twitter.

In a nutshell: you can expect lots of activity in the centre of Subiaco this month with people of all ages discovering Subiaco pARk, children taking part in The Future Postal Service, and of course, parents exploring the shops and cafes while they wait.

If you would like posters or postcards to promote the above events at your business, please contact Peta McAuliffe from the City of Subiaco on 9237 9346 or email placemanagement@subiaco.wa.gov.au
