A Change of Use
planning policy has been developed by City of Subiaco in consultation with the community to support a simple, fast and clear assessment process. The city is making it easier for new businesses to open their doors in Subiaco by eliminating the need for planning approval for change of certain land uses in the Subiaco Town Centre.
The new policy means that some new businesses, including shops, offices, consulting rooms and small bars, are exempt from submitting a development application for a change of land use, further reducing hurdles and speeding up the application process.
New business operators are encouraged to call the city on (08) 9237 9222 and speak with a planner to confirm that planning approval is not required for their new business. A copy of the policy can be downloaded here
With successful new businesses opening, and more set to open in the coming weeks, there is growing confidence in the economic viability of Subiaco. The adoption of this policy follows recent initiatives to reinvigorate the Subiaco Town Centre including waiving alfresco dining and street trading fees, commencement of the $4 million Rokeby Road upgrade and a twelve month trial of three hour free parking.
