Pavement to parklets
Colourful temporary parklets have been installed at two locations on Rokeby Road, providing comfortable, leafy locations for people to sit and watch the world go by. These parklets will remain in their current locations for four to six weeks before being moved to other locations in the city.
If your town centre business is interested in having a roadside parklet installed nearby for up to six weeks please contact the city on 9387 0942.
The new parklets aren’t the only projects improving the aesthetic of town centre. Other developments include:
- 57 new planter boxes on Rokeby Road with another 18 on the way
- bud lighting in the trees up Rokeby Road, with additional lights to be placed in the eucalyptus tree in Post Office Walk on Monday evening, weather permitting
- new bench seats to be installed in late June
- continuing the colourful painting of bike racks throughout the town centre.
There has been a very positive response to these upgrades.
Notification of upcoming works
Works on the Rokeby Road median strip between Bagot and Roberts roads will take place in July.
This is part of the Council’s resolution to investigate the feasibility of partial or complete removal of the traffic median in order to improve the streetscape aesthetic and provide a safer town centre environment.

Markets on Rokeby
Markets on Rokeby is coming to Subiaco! A unanimous council decision granted conditional approval for Venn Property Group to conduct the weekend street market starting later this year.
Up to 200 stalls offering a range of food, art, fashion and more are expected to arrive on Rokeby Road between Bagot Road and Hay Street this spring.

Network to help Subiaco Town Centre revival
A Subiaco Town Centre Network is the next step in a collaborative approach between the City of Subiaco and the local business community to enhance the shopping and visitor experience in Subiaco.
Its key focus will be to promote a positive image of Subiaco to the wider community and establish activation initiatives to attract and retain visitors and customers.
The establishment of the network follows two recent business forums hosted by the city and the Western Suburbs Business Association to develop key actions to address current trends and challenges in the Subiaco Town Centre.

Business breakfast a full house
There was a fantastic turnout to the business breakfast held at Llama Bar on Wednesday 10 June. With around 40 Subiaco business owners and representatives in attendance, there were plenty of great opportunities for networking and discussion.

Outdoor dining and street trading permits reminder
If you have a current outdoor dining or street trading permit you should have received your renewal package for 2015–16. All current permits expire at midnight on 30 June 2015, so make sure you return the renewal form and pay the fees before this date to keep your permit valid.

Jersey Street car station reopens
The newly redeveloped Jersey Street car station is due to open next week, offering the city’s lowest all day parking fee of just $1.20 per hour with a $4 maximum. The car station will operate from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
The redevelopment included the installation of a stormwater bio-filter at the base of the car park which removes pollutants and nutrients from the stormwater before sending the clean water to Mabel Talbot wetland.

Be storm ready
Prepare your property for winter by cleaning out gutters, trimming overhanging tree branches and removing any loose debris from around your building. The city urges businesses to dispose of any materials appropriately and ensure stormwater drains remain clear.

Nominations are now open for the winter/spring sports season with competitions in basketball, netball, soccer, volleyball or dodgeball.
