Successful Launch in Honduras
Angela Altamirano, one of our faithful women from Managua, came eight days ahead of the program to evangelize in the brothels and on the street corners, inviting the women to come. Many of the Honduran women who serve at Manos Unidas took turns going out with Angela into the streets. They all did a fabulous job of getting the women to come.
During the service, after the praise and worship, we had a drama about redemption and breaking chains.
Angela outdid herself in sharing her testimony. She was very open and transparent about the hard life she lived as a child and the gang rape she endured at 16, when she conceived her first child. She was honest about the factors that led her into ten years of prostitution and the humiliations she suffered. While she was speaking many of the women were leaning forward and hanging on her every word. They were very moved.
After the testimony I shared several verses from Jeremiah twenty nine—telling the women that God has a good plan and hope for their lives. I gave an altar call and eleven women came forward to receive Christ, many with tears in their eyes. It was a very moving sight. (continued)

SUCCESSFUL (continued) - Afterward, we announced our next meeting and Shari, from Manos Unidas, invited the women to participate in their twice weekly program.
Many women talked to us afterwards about needs they have and wanting to make a change. I mentioned the baking project that Operation Blessings has at the ministry center for women who need help. One woman, who has 7 children, says her “husband” beats her regularly and forces her to prostitute herself.
One woman, Gracey, thanked me for remembering them. She prayed with Angela and was weeping as she talked about her life.
During the ministry to the women, there were over one hundred kids who had a Bible lesson and a nutritious lunch. Several of the children in attendance were noticeably malnourished.
In the whole, it was a fantastic start to a new ministry and we are glorifying God for His faithfulness. We are already making plans for the next meeting on October 4th and brainstorming how to meet these women’s needs.
