Change is in the Air at Discovery 2014

Spring is (just barely!) in the air here in Toronto, and to RGC, that means it’s nearly Discovery conference time.

In less than six weeks, Discovery 2014 will be underway, and while you’ll see some of the familiar faces of your colleagues there, you’ll also see a few differences.

We spoke to Jon Kelly, CEO of RGC, to get his perspective on the changes this year.

Gambling and Personality Dimensions

Published in the March issue of Current Behavioral Neuroscience Reports, this review considers relationships between gambling and personality traits. The possible existence of distinct subtypes of Gambling Disorder, defined via personality traits, is discussed.

The 10th European Conference on Gambling Studies and Policy Issues happening in Helsinki in September will bring together experts from all over the world and from a wide variety of disciplines.

Authors wishing to present a paper during the course of the Conference are invited to submit an abstract of proposed content. Early submission is encouraged.

The Manitoba Gambling Research Program accepts conference grant applications (up to $2,000) year-round from Manitoba researchers and students.

Call for Applications: MLSYA Data Access Program

The Manitoba Longitudinal Study of Young Adults (MLSYA) Data Access Program is accepting applications from researchers to use this unique dataset for their research. The MLSYA followed a longitudinal sample (n=679) of 18 to 20 year olds from across Manitoba from 2007 to 2011 that contains a wealth of instruments that could be used to answer diverse research questions about the changing behaviours of young adults.
