Discovery 2014 Gets Top Marks from Participants

We could not be more pleased with the feedback we’ve gotten about this year’s Discovery conference. Nearly three-quarters of people responding to our survey rated the overall conference as excellent, and another 25% rated it as good.

In almost every category, over 90% of respondents chose good or excellent, including session format, participation opportunities and the relevance of topics.

Prevalence of Gambling Problems Among the Clients of a Toronto Homeless Shelter

This study, published online for the June issue of the Journal of Gambling Studies, determined the prevalence of problem gambling among 264 clients of a community homeless service agency.

The prevalence of lifetime problem gambling was 10 % and that of pathological gambling was 25 % in this group.

Call for Abstracts: EASG Conference

The 10th European Conference on Gambling Studies and Policy Issues happening in Helsinki in September will bring together experts from all over the world and from a wide variety of disciplines.

Authors wishing to present a paper during the course of the Conference are invited to submit an abstract of proposed content. Early submission is encouraged.

BCLC is now accepting proposals for fresh and original presentation ideas to inspire a diverse audience of researchers, industry representatives, and prevention or treatment specialists.

The third New Horizons in Responsible Gambling conference will be held February 2-4, 2015 in Vancouver, B.C.

Call for Submissions: AGRI 2014-15 Major Research Grants

The Alberta Gambling Research Institute, a consortium of the Universities of Alberta, Calgary, and Lethbridge, is pleased to announce the release of the 2014-15 Major Research Grant Guidelines and Application Form.

High priority research areas include internet gambling, First Nations, public policy, effective treatment programs and crime. The applicant must be one of the principal investigators and have faculty status at one of the three universities.

NAGS would like to welcome submissions for presentations at the 24th Annual National Association for Gambling Studies (NAGS) Conference to be held at the Gold Coast in November this year.
