Like any website project, RGC's main site relaunch has been a project involving many hands and many months. A complete overhaul is a daunting task, but has the advantage of forcing us to ask tough questions like:

Job Posting: RGRC Service Coordinator - Ajax Downs

RGC is seeking to fill 1 Part-Time Service Coordinator position at RGRC Ajax Downs and provide occasional back-up to RGRC Woodbine. The Centres provide on-site information about safer play and many other topics about responsible gambling. Centre staff also provide immediate assistance and referrals to patrons who may be concerned about their own gambling or that of someone close to them.

Ontario Problem Gambling Research Centre (OPGRC) Studentship Awards

Masters and Doctorate awards, as well as the Post-Doctorate fellowship, are available.

The purpose of the Studentship Program is to develop the capacity in Ontario to conduct problem gambling research. OPGRC provides financial support to students who undertake problem gambling research as part of their graduate studies program and show promise for a career in problem gambling research.

Please note that the application requirements and process have been revised since the last solicitation.

Alberta Gambling Research Institute Research Grant Proposals

For the 2012-13 proposal cycle, the following stakeholder identified priorities will receive particular consideration:

  • Internet gambling
  • Indigenous/First Nations gambling
  • Longitudinal follow-up studies
  • Public policy
  • Provision and delivery of effective treatment programs

Proposals on these topics are encouraged but submissions are not restricted to only these topics. Interested applicants should submit the completed application to their respective Research Grants Office contact.


Request For Proposals: Manitoba Gambling Research Program

The Manitoba Gambling Research Program is now accepting proposals and grant applications from across Canada in 2 categories.  

  • Research Grants: Small Grants (up to $50,000). Deadline for submissions is July 16, 2012.
  • Conference Grants (up to $2,000) are accepted year-round.

Call For Papers: First Asia Pacific Conference On Gambling & Commercial Gaming Research

The Asia Pacific Association for Gambling Studies (APAGS) would like to invite you to submit your papers/abstracts for the First Asia Pacific Conference on Gambling & Commercial Gaming Research (APCG2012), which will be held between 5-8 November 2012, in Macao, China.

Research on gambling and commercial gaming from perspectives in the following fields are welcome:

  • psychology
  • law and regulation
  • marketing and management
  • economics
  • public policy
  • medical science
  • ...and others


Call For Applications: MLSYA Data Access Program

As of April 1, 2012, the Manitoba Longitudinal Study of Young Adults (MLSYA) Data Access Program began accepting applications from Manitoba researchers who would like to use this unique dataset for their own research studies.

The MLSYA followed a longitudinal sample (n=679) of 18 to 20 year olds from across Manitoba over a five year period from 2007 to 2011.
