September Ministry Update

Students On Mission

As we wrapped up the school year last May, we were thrilled be able to send off 10 students on to various Cru Summer Mission trips across the country...literally! We had three students in Alaska, one in South Carolina, one in Florida and four attend a local trip in Westby, WI. Each of these trips provided a unique experience for students to grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus, be surrounded by other followers of Jesus and also receive practical training for them to make Christ known where they were. Here are stories from two of our students:

“While on summer mission at Cru Headquarters as an intern, God gave me a taste of how I can use practical skills that are typically not associated with ministry to directly help further his kingdom! An impactful piece of summer mission was the evangelism that we faithfully stepped into; God was present in every conversation we had with people on college campuses and beaches. Learning how to initiate, build up, and carry a spiritual conversation is a skill learned this summer that is so applicable in going back to campus. Getting to share the gospel more times than I can count really grew my love for Jesus and my desire to actually see souls saved.”

"The highlight of my trip was getting to immerse myself in the culture of Native Alaska, building relationships with the Native population! Learning about their language, unique activities, cultural lifestyle, and more, was very humbling. In my time in Alaska, the Lord showed me the brokenness of the world that He calls us to serve in. I was taken out of my comfort zone during those weeks to take on the responsibility of listening to, caring for, and praying for the hearts of the campers, many of which who come from broken homes and difficult circumstances. This experience equipped me to meet people where they are, whether it be in emotional vulnerability, geographical location, physical needs, or spiritual investment."

Back to School!!

As I write this, hundreds of students have moved into the residence halls across campus at UWO and thousands more will arrive next week when classes begin! It is always an exciting time of year and can't wait to be able to meet students face-to-face this year. We had a short weekend getaway (pictured below) with our Cru student leaders last weekend to plan and pray for all that is ahead. We will have our first large group meeting on Thursday, September 9th back on campus and are planning various other events to meet and connect with new students. One specific faith goal that we set and that we'd love for you to be praying for is that we would be able to share the gospel with 100 individual people by October 22nd. We believe that there is a harvest that God has prepared for us on campus and we want to take steps of faith to be a part of it! We'd love for you to pray for opportunities for us to share with 100 people, for openness to the gospel in these conversations and ultimately, that God would transform lives and we'd see fruit from our efforts.

Thanks so much for being along with us to see our vision of reaching the college campuses in the Fox Valley for Christ!  We couldn't do it without you!
