SANIVATION OPENS ONE OF THE WORLD’S FISRT HUMAN WASTE PROCESSING AND BRIQUETTE PRODUCTION SITE IN NAIVASHA, KENYA WITH MINISTERS AND MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT -September 10th, 2015

Yesterday, Sanivation opened one of the world’s first human waste processing and charcoal production sites. The site has capacity to produce 150 tons of charcoal briquettes per month.

Representatives from area member of parliament, ministers, and public officers mentioned how this has grand implications for sanitation and the environment.

  • “In Kenya, the leading cause of death for children under 5 is diarrhea. Safe waste disposal is one of the best ways to prevent diarrhea. Where we have the biggest challenges in sanitation is peri-urban areas. Speakers at the event applauded Sanivation’s in depth work with the community and integrated approach to sanitation.

CEO and Co-founder Andrew Foote mentioned how he hopes this is just the beginning for Sanivation, “there are too many people who want access to a toilet, and too many resources that instead of being turned into fuel are making people sick”.
