Project Spotlight:
Stream Enhancement on the Upper South Fork Siletz

In a remote area of the central Oregon Coast, fish habitat is getting a boost. Over 300 pieces of large wood were placed along 5 river miles of Sand Creek, McFall Creek, Callahan Creek and the mainstream South Fork Siletz River. This project, in partnership with Oregon Department of Fish & Wildlife and the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board, is designed to improve the spawning and rearing habitat used by multiple native fish species including resident and sea-run coastal cutthroat trout, summer steelhead, Chinook salmon, Western brook and Pacific lampreys. Pre and post project stream surveys will be done to document improvement of in-stream habitat and fish use.

To learn more about stream enhancement in the Upper Siletz Watershed, read about the project on our website.
