NARBC Anaheim Recap
NARBC rolled into Anaheim and attracted more than herpers. Several television and internet celebrities walked the show while checking out all the incredible animals.
Reptile show regular, television star and longtime herper Ton Jones, from Auction Hunters, was also in attendance. He brought along a little something special, too. Ton donated a guitar autographed by Slash, former lead guitarist for Guns N' Roses, to the Saturday night benefit auction. This item raised $2,500 to help Forever Wild Exotic Animal Sanctuary
Another unique item was donated by Michael Dee (Natural History Books). Michael donated a copy of Betty White's book titled "Betty and Friends: My Life at the Zoo." This book, which will be personalized and signed by Betty, brought over $500 to benefit USARK.
In addition to the celebrities walking the show, the USARK booth had some celebs of its own. We had several reptiles gracing our booth and educated attendees about reptiles, including; Sam the Nile monitor, Bane the Burmese python, Max the Crocodile monitor, a couple beaked snakes named Rufous and Ephedrine, Blue the Green anaconda, and others.
Education is a huge part of the USARK booth at shows. We can help attendees find species that are appropriate pets for them, give husbandry advice, and especially discuss that many species are not good choices for some people due to large adult size, long lifespans or advanced care requirements.
A list of donors who made the benefit auction, which raised over $10,000, possible is below. We must say thanks to all the volunteers who helped in the booth, collected auction donations, set up the auction, and more. This is a team effort and is not possible without them. USARK also sends a huge thanks to Bob, Brian and the NARBC Crew.
