Two Monoprint Series by Gary Justis
Gary Justis: Rococo 17, 2016. Monoprint on Arches Cover paper. 42 ½" x 31 ¾".
Published by Manneken Press.

FOR ITS SECOND PROJECT RELEASED IN 2016, MANNEKEN PRESS HAS PUBLISHED TWO NEW MONOPRINT SERIES BY GARY JUSTIS

In his new Rococo and Murano monoprints, sculptor Gary Justis utilized two chandelier profiles to explore color, form and seriality in the print medium. Justis essentially drew the chandelier forms with a torch as he cut them from stainless steel sheets, resulting in shaped plates which were inked and printed, often repeatedly and sometimes in combination with a woodblock or stencils, to create two groups of related, yet unique prints.
Gary Justis: Murano 4, 2016. Monoprint on Arches Cover paper. 42 ½" x 31 ¾".
Published by Manneken Press.
The chandelier prints dovetail with Justis’ sculptural output in that they are literally prints of sculptures.  The metallic inks used throughout the series result in wonderfully reflective surfaces which enhance the idea of the chandelier as a source of light. Justis' sculptures and installations often incorporate light and projections, and the chandelier prints are a natural outgrowth of of this line of inquiry.
