RCC RANKED 4TH AMONG NATION'S TOP COMMUNITY COLLEGES FOR HISPANICS
This month, The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education Magazine ranked RCC as one of the nation’s Top 25 Community Colleges for Hispanics. The national publication produces a special edition yearly that features Top 25 lists covering the growth of Hispanic students in higher education. The magazine ranks institutions on a number of factors, such as enrollment and degrees granted to Hispanic students. RCC ranked 4th in the nation for associate degrees awarded and 11th in enrollment of Hispanic students.

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT INNOVATION GRANT TO SUPPORT SCALING GUIDED PATHWAYS
Riverside City College is dedicated to transforming and redesigning its institution to increase student success. Through redesign efforts, over the past three years, it was realized that the student voice is critical for the implementation process; therefore a Guided Pathways Student (GPS) Ambassador program was created.

GPS Ambassadors welcomed students to the start of the Spring semester. Understanding the challenges their peers face navigating online learning and balancing college and life. They developed a GRIT Campaign and video offering motivation and support students as they start the semester.

SCHOOL OF NURSING RECEIVES GRANT TO EXPAND STUDENT ACCESS

The School of Nursing is a recipient of the 2020-21 Song Brown Program of the California Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development grant for Registered Nursing. The primary purpose of this grant is to provide funding for clinical training and education in areas of unmet needs in California. Song-Brown funding provides resources that enable RCC to increase the number of minority students admitted into the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program.

STUDENTS HOST EVENTS CELEBRATING BLACK HISTORY AND EXCELLENCE
The Umoja Community, ASRCC, and Athletics hosted multiple virtual Black History Month events to highlight and celebrate Black History and Black Excellence throughout the college. Students, faculty, classified professionals engaged in activities that included a panel discussion with RCC faculty, a historical perspective of Black Wall Street, a Black Thought session, a Spoken Word workshop, a movie viewing and discussion, and a Black student mixer. Each of the events recognized the accomplishments and contributions of the Black community.

DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC HOSTS VIRTUAL MASTER CLASS WITH PASQUALE GRASSO
Dr. Peter Curtis and the Department of Music hosted a virtual guitar master class with world-famous guitarist Pasquale Grasso. "He is one of today's greatest guitarists," said Professor of Music Peter Curtis. Based in New York City, 30-year old Grasso quickly made a name for himself in the city's vibrant jazz scene. He has performed on television, music festivals, concert halls, jazz clubs, and now virtually for an audience of RCC students, faculty, classified professionals, and members of our community.
