More awards coming Atmosphere’s way

In December, we were excited to hear that we had won a few more resort awards, to add to our growing collection.
Atmosphere Resorts & Spa was named one of the Best Dive Resorts in the world in Scuba Diving’s 2019 Readers Choice Awards. Number 8 – to be exact – in the Pacific/Indian Ocean/Red Sea region, which is fantastic considering that the region is enormous and filled with exciting and fabulous dive spots.
We also received awards from Haute Grandeur Global Awards, where we won an Excellence Award for
“Best Hotel Website worldwide” and “Best Eco Friendly Resort in the Philippines”. It doesn’t end there! Our Blue Restaurant also won “Best Resort Restaurant in the Philippines” and “Best Health and Wellness Cuisine in the Philippines”.

The Garden Apartments get a fabric face lift

When we opened our latest room type, the Premium Suite, we wanted to go that extra mile to make the textiles and color schemes easy on the eye, current, luxurious and at the same time eco-friendly. Not an easy task but we love how they turned out, so with the renovation of our Garden Apartments, we decided to go with the same recycled textiles from Anthill but in a different color scheme. What do you think?

New rash guards celebrating Atmosphere's 10 years

You may already own one – our navy blue, fuchsia pink and aqua turquoise rash guards are best sellers in the Boutique among guests who wish to protect their skin against the sun. For our 10 year Anniversary in November, we made special white-themed Anniversary Rash guards and we like them so much that we will probably keep them in stock. Make sure to update your rash guard collection next time at Atmosphere.

The New Year brings a few new rates

We have turned the page to 2019 and it is time for us to adjust a few of our rates. Room rates stay the same with the exception of our renovated Garden Apartments with their indoor/outdoor bathrooms and walk-in closets, where we have increased the rate per night from 13000 PHP to 14000 PHP for two guests including breakfast and airport shuttle. Our dives, which still include Nitrox, are now 3000 pesos but now they are all inclusive of the Apo Island surcharge. All dives, weather coastal, house reef or Apo Island, are now the same price. We have also simplified our excursions rates and added a “Diver full board” option which includes a one course lunch and can be pre-booked with a dive package, making it easier for hard-core divers to fit in their 5 dives per day!

The International Sales Team welcomes Audrey and Katherine

With the upcoming expansion of Atmosphere and our continuous efforts to broaden our customer base and look into new markets, we have again expanded our team. In December, Audrey Giam, originally from Singapore, was hired to take on the Chinese and South East Asian market excluding the Philippines. At the same time we hired Katherine Stevens – a British native - for North- and South America. They both look forward to meeting you at dive shows and other events around the world.
Live aboards
Cruise the Central Visayas on the Philippine Siren
Special trip offer with drop off or pick-up at Atmosphere! With so many great destinations within the Visayas region, why not join us on a 6 night cruise around the Central Visayas in August 2019 or July 2020? We will dive with the thresher sharks in Malapascua, the sardines in Moalboal and amongst the stunning coral gardens of Balicasag onboard the S/Y Philippine Siren of Worldwide Dive & Sail. As a special treat, the trip either begins or ends in Atmosphere - which is why we will make you a very special package for a combination dive holiday. Contact for pricing and packages.
Live aboards
Join us in Palau for some shark and manta action
Every year, Atmosphere charters one of the Siren Fleet liveaboard ships for an exotic dive destination and we would absolutely love for you to come with us. In May 2019, we head off to Palau on the Palau Siren, a destination we have enjoyed visiting twice before.
If you choose to come with us, you are more than welcome to stay at Atmosphere for a few days before or after the cruise, and as a special deal, Atmosphere will give you 5 nights for the price of 3. Contact us for details at

Now open 24/7 – Atmosphere extends the reception hours
Since Atmosphere opened 10 years ago, we have had the reception open between 6am and 10pm daily. This year, we decided to add that extra bit of service to our guests, and keep the reception open 24 hours.
In 2018, we were happy to see more domestic flights to and from Dumaguete, some of which took off or landed quite late in the evening. With the potential of flights being delayed – and the guest arriving after 10pm – we thought the timing was good to extend the reception hours. This also helps when you have leave early in the morning and realize that you haven’t yet bought that Atmosphere rash guard you’ve been eyeing all week!
Eco Efforts
We have signed Mission 2020
At Atmosphere, we are conscious of our environmental impact and have made great strides in limiting any negative effects we have on the environment. For 2019 we have decided to challenge ourselves further and have signed up to Mission 2020. Initiated by Fourth Element, Mission 2020 is a platform for the global dive community to come together and pledge to change their practices. Our pledge is:
“At Atmosphere Resorts & Spa, we have already made great strides in limiting our environmental impact. By World Oceans Day 2020, we pledge to have eliminated front of house single-use plastics and will continue to expand our sustainability and awareness raising efforts with our guests, suppliers and local community.”
Photographer of the month

Donald Tan – it’s all about the eyes this month

We are fortunate to have so many talented underwater photographers at Atmosphere and whenever they don’t teach dive courses or guide divers, they are happy to get their camera housings wet. This month, our in-house PADI Instructor Donald Tan has been taking lots of photos of underwater eyes, putting his macro lens to great use!
