Thanks to those who have replied to my email about the meeting on Wednesday night and especially to those who have indicated that they are coming. So far there are only five attendees and I would urge you to come if you can.
This is a very important meeting as we need to decide how the Coalition will handle the submission process and how to maximise our chance of retaining the gains we have made (e.g. the pre 1944 overlay). We also need to discuss the future of the Coalition. Will we continue past the UP process?
Although I know we are not especially happy with the Unitary Plan, I don't think we should underestimate the impact the Character Coalition has had on the importance that is now placed on heritage. I heard from a reliable source recently that heritage was the most important issue for the Council last year. The heritage team is growing and has a lot more say than in previous times. Now is not the time to give up.
Please come and be part of deciding the future of the Coalition.
Wednesday night 7pm at the Freemans Bay Community Hall 52 Hepburn Street.
