The next meeting is at 7pm on Thursday 15th November at Kinder House 2 Ayer Street Parnell.
The purpose of this meeting is to confirm what we will be asking the Council for at our next meeting with the Unitrary Plan team. I have just received notification from the Council that this meeting will be held on Thursday 22nd November from 5.30pm - 7.30pm at the Fickling Centre in Mt Roskill. The deadline for the first draft of the Unitary Plan is
March 2013. It is vital that we get some strong protections into that draft and so we need to get our points across to Council before Christmas.
So that we know how many to expect next Thursday can you please RSVP
by clicking HERE
Please also RSVP for the meeting with Council on 22nd November in the same email if you are able to. I will send out another reminder for that meeting closer to the time.
Since the meeting on 25th we have been joined by:
Thanks you have boosted our numbers to 45!
Tamaki Drive Protection Society
Mangere Bridge Residents and Ratepayers
Balmoral Says No Community Group
Epsom and Eden District Historical Society
Thanks again to all of you (45 people) who came on 25th, some of you from such a distance. We have been told that the Council were impressed by the numbers who attended. However the Coalition's strength is not just our size but the fact that we represent urban and rural, north, south, east and west and that our concern is for built and natural heritage.
Heritage Advisory Panel
The Coalition was invited to speak to the HAP on Tuesday night. Geoff Houtman and I gave a presentation on the aims of the Coalition and were commended by the panel. There were several Local Board Chairs present and we were encouraged by one of them to get all Local Boards to support us. I think that is a fantastic idea and would urge you all to do that. If you would like a copy of the PowerPoint to present to your Board please let me know.
There has been some great articles and letters in the Herald this week. Brian Rudman's piece Planners' endorsement of brothel shows we trust them at our peril was particulary pointed and was followed up the next day with a couple of great letters; one from Helen Geary of the Coalition. Letters to the paper are very powerful so please write one about the concerns for your area.
Looking forward to seeing you on 15th.
